What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Ordered and received some Caltrend seat covers. Got the Duraplus version- I wanted something waterproof and durable. I read the DuraPlus were recommended for people with dogs/ dog hair. Seems like they'll be easy to wipe down or vacuum. Not fancy looking. It's Cordura. The "upholstery" type we got in our Crosstrek is pretty hot in the summer so we'll see if these are any cooler.

Got the driver's side mostly done. Can't figure out how to get the side strap fed through the outer panel of the driver's seat. May just leave it off. Only cut my hand once fishing the bottom straps through so I got that going for me.... which is nice.

I'll take pics of the finished product after I drive around with them for a bit. It'll give them time to mold to seats. They look a little funky at first.

 

Got my Cali Raised interior Molle panels installed but haven't had a chance to get pics and start figuring out where stuff is going to go yet. Love the quality of the panels and they went in super easy!

Man do I have a story ... but that is for another time. Always a good time when I pull up to this place ...

 

Man I would love to know the specs on this. Lift and tire size. It looks fantastic!

 

I want nothing on the roof, paid a price at the pump, so no more.

1.5-2.5" lift on Wildpeak 285/70's, 8"W, -12 offset

 

Last minute advice n while your at it, might as well’s for installing front bumper???

I legit just bought 4x 3.25ft KC wire hiders, and a 12ft length of a competitor product that looks like your roof weather strip.
My roof rack 3/4 basket is u-bolted to factory rack including factory crosses. It's quite a distance up the roof until I hit the transition to the basket (halfway across sunroof. I'm adding three new lighting loads up top)

 

I hate snow that is hiding ice under it

 

Preparing the 4Runner for sale - did the A/C Refresher Service. Ran into a little snow picking up the kit from the dealership in Kirkland Wa.

 

Cool Vs. Practical

 

So I went to dealership for oil change (had a coupon on oil change). And with oil change, tires were included for a rotation.

Cool. No biggies.

Drove it home (dealership is LITERALLY in my back yard).

Then tonight, went to town for supper, and there is a HORRIBLE sound coming from front end area. Granted there is still ice on the ground, and roads aren't the smoothest, BUT it was not making this sound before taking it in for oil change.

Me thinks it's the skid plate, and wasn't put back on correctly.

Sadly, the YT short doesn't really do the racket justice on how bad it sounds, but best I can do (no radio or heat on).

This is why I'm doing as much myself as possible, they can keep the free oil. If something galls or strips I'll have only myself to blame.

The tire guy pulled all the tools and junk out of the cargo area trying to find the spare before I went out there to see what was taking so long.



Swapped on the Gobi awning mounts today and they're ok I suppose. For $200 I would rather see carriage bolts, rubber coating on the clamp surfaces, and deeper hooks to make removing/installing easier.

I’ve heard of like quick disconnect or rather easy on/off hooks for awnings

however smaller size

been brainstorming a homemade version to use/not use awning easily for my 270

 

ITS NOT A TUMAA lol

 

It's the bigger 180 version, so I wanted triple mounts for stability. Ironman and RaxBrax make somewhat universal QD mounts that would make it easier, but I can handle it myself within a few minutes so I'm good for now.
