Were there certain years that had backlit Homelink buttons? It's a pain fumbling around on my 2011. Was thinking I could swap them out.

I don't think so. My 2023 does not have illuminated Homelink buttons. A lot of other Toyota's have illuminated homelink buttons though.

Nope. It's another reason there's a flashlight in my console.

It lights with accessories or turning engine on in the dark.

My 2011 doesn't have a lighted up Homelink buttons but my 2018 does. No idea if the 2018 would fit the 2011

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 35 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 35yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
I just went out in the garage and looked, my 2022 ORP homelink buttons are illuminated, just the moonroof buttons are not.

My 2023 SR5P has a small green light on the button - if you consider that illuminated.

both of you have 23 and they are not lit? Strange, why would Toyota remove it for a newer model? Cutting cost?

I'll have to check again. It's possibly only lit under certain conditions or not very bright. The 4wd controls are definitely lit.

Yep, it comes on after it's started or if I turn on accessories.

    It's a long list...
Don't quote me on any of this, as I am not entirely sure of specific model year/trim ranges.

I'm pretty sure that Toyota has had illuminated homelink buttons since the 2010MY, just on certain trims. For 2010-13MY I think the illuminated homelink buttons were a "Limited only" thing, but they started to be available on the premium trims for the 2014MY. I'm pretty sure the base models still got the old style homelink buttons up until the 2020MY, then it was all illuminated. No sunroof controls were ever illuminated, which IMHO makes no sense.

My 19 TRDP. I don't have illumination on but it does have the numbers of the lighted units. I'll check tonight to see if they illuminate.

My single biggest pet peeve with the 4runner, and the first "dislike" that I noticed about it, is that some buttons are illuminated, and some aren't. Like people don't roll down the back window after dark? There is no rhyme or reason... why aren't all the controls illuminated equally?

Correct, I see your buttons don't have the ability to illuminate because they only have the raised braille bumps, no numbers printed on them.

Well then I have absolutely no idea. I would have thought the limited would have for sure had them at the time being the top trim level. Look around on eBay and see if you can find a 2010-13MY console with the lighted homelink. You may need to swap over your SOS button, but otherwise it should plug in and work without issue.
