New here...We just bought a white 2018 SR5 4 runner. We have till tomorrow to decide if

    1) We want to upgrade our wheels to the TRD Pro: TRD 17-in. matte-black alloy wheel ($995 for just the wheels and will re-use factory tires) or ($2,595 for wheels & upgrade tire package to TOYO Open Country A/T II)

    2) Is it worth to add $421 for tire warranty that covers you for 7 years. The trick to this is if i change my wheels or tires within the 7 years to something else, then the warranty will be void so I would need to decide on what wheels & tires first.

Wondering how many of you got the wheel upgrade in the first place even if you have an SR5 instead of TRD Off Road. And if you did upgrade your wheels, did you stick with the factory tires or did you upgrade? [Would love to see pictures]

I would love the Wheel AND Tire upgrade but $2,595 sounds a lot.... that's 1600 more than just the "tires".

I wouldn't do it (change wheels and tires) later. Never buy the warranty on tires unless it's a road hazard. But never from the dealer.

So you would just keep the spoke alloy wheels that comes standard? We were considering the matte black looks a little better.

I found the same wheels for $699 from a dealer in WA. I almost bought them. Other prices I’ve seen are $799.

So I wouldn’t buy them from the dealer. And not the warranty. 7 years? Sounds like a scam given that tires only last 4 max.

Another example they wanted to charge like $1200 for the TRD grill upgrade.
I just bought the grill set from them later for $700 and did it myself very easy.

Tires I went with Falken Wildpeak AT3 and my god they are so amazing. Looks aggressive but drives smooth and pretty quiet.

What your dealer wants for wheels and tires is way too much. Buy the TRD wheels online, put the Wildpeaks on them and sell your SR5 wheels and tires and make back some of your money.

I sold my SR5 tires/wheels with no TPMS for $400 an hour after I put them on Craigslist. Sure I could have asked more, but what is your time worth?

thanks for the advice everyone! I won't get the tire warranty and get my wheels & tires else where when I'm ready!

I would not get the Pro wheels. They are only 7" and if you want to go with a bigger tire later, most are not recommended on 7" wheels.

There is a company that makes a Pro look alike in 8" that is about the same price as the Pro. Don't remember the name of the company, but someone on here will chime in I'm sure.

That’s where I got my wheels from. Picked them up myself. And I went with the Nitto G2. I like the look and happy with it.

    The same 4Runner everyone has
    The company is FN Wheels
They're 17x8 instead of 17x7 like the Toyota wheels, but they're lighter and they have a wider choice of colors. $699 for a set of 4.
They sell out almost as fast as they can get them in. Get ahold of Dustin at FN Wheels directly to try and lock down a set.

Well all I can say anyone going with the TRD pro wheel. Road force balance. I wasted my time having someone else trying to balance.
It was a nightmare. I ended up going to my dealer who was terrific and listen to me.

This picture is right by my house!! haha

Yeah, I agree with everyone. The dealership is a rip off. I would buy the rims elsewhere and sell your stock rims. Don't get the tire warranty. The tires will most likely need to be replaced before the 7 years are up. If the tread hasn't worn out by then, you'll see some oxidation (weather cracking) on the tires which is more severe in Hawai'i due to all the salt air. Most warranties don't cover weather cracking. Costco kapolei can order BFGoodrich KO2's for roughly $250/tire. Installation is 17.75/tire. Best sale they have is during the Michellin penny installation. The KO2's come off $50off of your total when buying 4 tires, and you pay 4cents for installation rather than $70 ($120 savings). They can install them onto new rims for you. Plus it's hard to beat the costco warranty.
