What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

I had a shop do it all. It was worth it.

I’m pretty happy with those tires. Just got em a few weeks ago. Same size.

 

I thought it’s just a gear limiter. What is to be gained by doing what you’re doing? (What are you doing? I’m curious)

 

When you did that setup, will your lights turn on when tou ignite your car if you left them on ? Or you have to put it on everytime?

Finished installing the 302/505 springs; after another brief shakedown I'm thankfully pretty level side to side with no spacers and the 5100s set at the stock height. 21.5" front/23" rear from the hubs.

It's a tad tall and raked, but I'll add a bit more weight if the rack ever arrives. Might be time to think about a BOTCK; is the shorty the way to go?

 

Like @semprenissart says, it's pretty much what comes in the Highlander. Whenever I'm in my wife's Highlander, I feel like it takes forever for my phone to charge using those USB ports. I have this for the cigarette lighter in my 19 instead. It's not a clean as the OEM look, but charges much faster.

One port is for OnePlus/Oppo phones, the other is for any phone that supports QuickCharge

 

Inspired by another poster, I blacked out the silver rings on the center caps of my TRD OR wheels. Looks better, to me at least. Might leave the Toyota badge silver as I like the contrast.

 

What did you use to color? Looks great!

 

Thank you! Plasti dip. The rings and the Toyota symbol are easily removed from the center cap.

 

What finish black is that and/or did use a glossifier?

Just regular flat black and no glossifier. Just used what I had on hand but it would probably look even better glossy. If I get around to picking some up I might re-do them but looks really good as is.

I had a Viair 85P air compressor for 12 years. Rated at 15A max, the compressor blew the 12V outlet fuses in two of my previous vehicles. The plug also got hot enough to anneal the spring behind the positive electrode, causing a bad connection. I finally got around to converting it from 12V outlet plug to alligator clamps, and extended the cord by 5m, effectively converting it to a Viair 88P. Now I can carry it in the 4Runner.

Southwire P/N 47174805 14/2 NMD90 5m wire (solid core isn't optimal, but it's cheap)
Powerfist P/N 8553448 12 AWG mini fuse holder
Powerfist P/N 8827289 14-16 AWG heat shrink butt connectors
20A mini fuse as part of Littelfuse P/N 094462 kit

For anyone new at this, avoid the Viair 85P as an emergency roadside compressor.

Ya I have the valance caps still, I've done that cut already. But there's still something I can't pinpoint rubbing when it's stuffed and flexing. Until I figure that out I'll keep em off. Spray painting it all black underneath either way!

So far they are way better than the trash the dealer put on. Truck feels less floaty and more responsive. Have not driven in the rain but must be better.
Cannot wait to have the time to do the 5100's and level her out.

 

installed the arb compressor for about 3 bucks... sorry only showing the mount.. gotta take another picture.

i am going to install a threaded rod as another little support through bracket and into the well - there is enough space for a vertical rod to fit through.. probably 1/4" with a couple nuts on it.

Did the cheat mode spring swap, but forgot to mark one of the cam bolts and now my caster is obviously wrong. I'll get an alignment tomorrow but it still tracks fine.



Melted the mudflap bulge a little bit still kinda want aftermarket. At least I don't have to worry about rubbing the front fender anymore.

 

I just installed high clearance rocker caps after trimming that area as well. They are 3d printed, lets see how well they holdup. You can get them at https://minwin3d.com/products/high-clearance-rocker-end-caps

 

Just got my Aspire Brite box "Anytime Fog Light W/Sm Blue OEM Switch" Unfortunately I leave for airport in 30 min, BUT I'm coming back Wed night instead of Friday!! Nice looking unite. I did the add relay splice into wires on my 2018, this looks a lot easier.

 

Back from the dealer today. They're covering the KDSS front shock replacement under warranty, parts and special service tool required to do it are on order.
