Anyone have a good recommendation for either a foam filled, or air filled mattress for camping? I've seen the Walmart blow-up ones, and durability is a concern as this mattress will stay in the 4Runner all season. Im looking for something with a maximum height of about 8" tall decompressed. 72" is about as long as I can fit on the sleeping platform and I'd like to try and find a twin sized setup so one half of the platform will be for sleeping and the other side with power outlets for my computer, fridge, fly rods, cooking equipment, etc...

Max $$ I'd like to spend is about $150, which puts most of the ones I see at the local out door stores out of my price range.

I've seen a few decent options on Amazon.com- then again I'm not the biggest fan of getting things from suppliers I've never heard of before- most of my camping gear is either Kelty or North Face, but I don't think either company makes an affordable mattress setup

The vehicle has thick sound proofing which helps as a moderate thermo barrier, but a mattress that holds heat would be awesome. Something that repels water or dust would also be a huge plus as I like to have my windows down all spring and summer when I'm not at work.

    Thanks in advance!!!

The Wal Mart / Intex mattresses are surprisingly good quality for the money. Mine is a full size, so it takes up the whole width of the back (5th gen 4R). Fits two people well. I've used it for over 3 years and taken two cross country trips, one Alaskan trip, and countless 2-3 day localized trips with it. I'd bet we've slept on it... maybe 150 nights? No leaks, no issues. The AC pump works well on the truck's invertor, too; and is reliable and efficient. Not bad for like $30 for the mattress and $10 for the pump.

@mrseth have you looked into Big Agnes? I have two of their air pads, a double sleeping bag and a lost ranger 15 from them. I like the fact the air pads slide into a sleeve on the sleeping bag so it doesn’t slide off.

Here is a link to their pads and you can select different sizes. The 20”x72” is $70 and it’s rated to 35*
