What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Paid $5.50 a gallon yesterday in the bay area. Haven't seen $3.33 in 20 years.

 

Greased upper control arms and resettled the suspension/lift at almost 20K miles. Wife complained about the "squeaking" and I said that's just to remind you that you have a better set up that OEM. So I fixed the squeak haha

Headed out tomorrow, 3 Dec 2023, on a trip from Phoenix to Tombstone, AZ, across to the AZ-NM state line and then Globe, AZ, and back to Phoenix, AZ to try out a few other things as well. We'll see how the boxes perform. An unexpectantly bonus from the boxes allows the 16" chainsaw to sit between the boxes without obstructing the box doors or from the rearview mirror. I used knobs for now in case I need to make changes during the trip or when I get back. Oh yeah, upgraded the hatch lift supports for the extra weight. Fingers crossed.

-4th set of off road lights. EVERGEAR 1,350 lumens, 30w, 3-¾" round flood lights for roof rack scene lighting. Tieing to ditch lights dash switch
-F1 smoked LED triangular chase light with lighting effects, rear roof rack mounted

 

Installed the roof basket, finally. Just upgraded from the stock wheels and tires this week as well. My brother-in-law has a lift on his GX, and upgraded to bigger ones, so he gave us the whole old set.

Side note: excuse the rubber ducks on the dash. They belong to our 3 year and and we're not trying to copy the Jeep folks...

 

Did the bumper have to come off to install those recovery points? Or did you have it off for doing other work?

So normally bumper cover can stay on as a whole, but some Off-Road 4R's have KDSS suspension. Those ones reward you with requiring the bumper and crush bar system completely off

 

Yeah, the non-KDSS install is quick and easy.

It sure looks like you might have clearance issues when you pull out there honcho.

 

May I suggest you put a remove before flight or some other such sticker displayed prominently on your instrument panel to remind you to unhook it before takeoff. It only takes one time.....don't ask me how I know....

 

^The CTek charger comes with a folded polyester bag that I put over the airbag cover when it's plugged in. Been doing that for years with my Tacoma. Otherwise it's easy to forget at 6am in the morning when you aren't fully awake.

 

Everything is so freaking solid, it feels solid, no rattles, noises, everything screwed together amazingly, like TFL's Tommy said it feels like one piece of Toyota. Other Toyotas are not like this

 

Not knowing the context of "clearance issues," I'm guessing it's regarding getting out of the garage. Thus, the added picture. I purposely installed the weBoost antenna in front of the driver as a reminder and reference of the vehicle's height, not only for the airport garage types but also for when passing under a downed tree when offroad. The antenna sits ~6" above the bike rack height (and now the top box). Additionally, since I don't always carry the bike when I do, I attach a flag to the antenna as a reminder that the bike (adding additional height) is above me. Hope that helps with your concern.
