Running boards, aftermarket or oem?

    Well, my wife been bitching since we got the 4r that it needs running boards or side steps. I get it, she's like 5' tall.

    What boards or steps are you running and do you like them? Are they useful or do they just get in the way? Id really like to get boards similar to the ford raptors and that are steel/metal. And I don't really need $1000 sliders

    I've been looking at the oem trail boards, predator steps, and even go rhino boards.

    Any suggestions?

    I replaced my Predator steps with sliders, but if I hadn't, I prefer the N-Fab version of the side steps to the Predator. They don't seem to hang down quite as low.

    I got the OEM plastic Running Boards for my older parents to help them get in out on occasion, and they work great for short people, deep step, and low enough. But in the end i should have gotten the RSG sliders since i do a ton of off roading.

    I really need to sell my OEM running boards to someone local so i can get what i really need.

    If the wife was the only reason I'd just find some used OEM ones.

    Sure someone is removing them once in a while.

    I went right to Toyota and bought the Trail running boards. Before this, I tried 2 different types, and was not happy. In the end, the Trail version looks great, fits perfect, and being Toyota OEM, I know it will last.

    These are the running boards I got as well as they were also wife approved. I really like how they look on my ‘23 ORP.

    You can shop around with different Toyota dealers to get the best price. Go to the Toyota Accessories website and take a look.

    Yeah, I bought them from an out of state Toyota Dealer online and saved some bucks vs buying them at my local dealer. Fast shipping too. Super satisfied with them!

    I’m running the same set. Second set. Had them on my other 4runner which I traded a few years ago. The wife and I about the same height. These steps work great and really prevent door dings. You cannot beat the price.

    Since you live in a state that uses road salt (as I do), you might want to consider corrosion resistance as well. For that, you simply cannot beat OEM Toyota. Better yet, literally brand new take-off OEM running boards pop up all the time for less than $200. That's how I bought not only the set that's on our T4R, but a spare set (just in case) as well.
