Replaced Neutral Safety Switch

Replaced the switch today..no amount of prying would budge it off the shaft. I finally got the oscillating cutter and using the flat side of the shaft as a guide split the nut and metal case.. then got a small ball ball and pean hammer with a small chisel and finished the job. Then sanded the crud off the shaft and reassembled using anti-sieze. No lights on dash, and smooth shifting restored.

 

Nice work. I would worry I would spaz out with the grinder and wreck something or wreck myself haha. I sprayed that shaft with a paraffin based lube/sealant a while back (Maxima Chainwax), with the hopes it might keep it from corroding in the hopes that I’ll be able to remove it when the time comes…we’ll see

I’m curious, what warning lights did you get on the dash?

 

@Old goat @McSpazatron I've bought the same Chainwax, do I spray the whole NSS assembly there, as is?

 

That was an experimental application! I make no guarantees that it wont wreck it, and cant really say what or how much to spray. I did a fairly quick and light shot at the shaft visible from the outside. YMMV

 

I was getting 4xlo and trac off indicator lights..
