    Hey all,

Got an '04 SR5 that has an interesting glitch-- the vehicle security alarm keeps going off intermittently at night, after taking it to get a computer diagnostic the results show a glitch with the trunk latch mechanism, keeps saying it's "open" though no door open light indicator lights up, the latch mechanically works and locks just fine, wondering if there's a way to just reset it in programming or otherwise.
Looking at it up close today at friend's garage there's a lot more than it seems to have to rewire/bypass whatever is acting up in the security relay while still keeping the mechanics and relay to the button on the outside functional, cheaper than having to order a whole new assembly on rockauto. Cleaned the mechanical locking claw portion, the bracket it locks onto in case any oxidized buildup may have been interfering with how flush it was sealing.

Did that have any affect on the false "open" issue?

@Bob I will have to wait and see tonight if it goes off/triggers as i did that this morning after i had removed the entire latch unit/motor in housing, buddy w/a garage and I tested some wiring sections to see what actuated what insofar as the locking/unlocking and light/indicator switch, those all reacted just fine, hopefully just messing with it/adjusting it a bit helps along with the cleaning, if not i'd like to see if anyone knows how to rewire/bypass the issue/secondary sensor or whatever is glitching, otherwise i'll be closing it and deactivating the unit/perma-locking the trunk until i can buy a whole new replacement. I'll be sure to keep things updated.
    *Also to note:
the in-cabin fuse compartment, the SECU/HORN fuse does NOT remove the horn from going off with the lights and alarm system overall, that type of mitigation i'd be removing 2 other major group fuses as well in the engine compartment fuse box to remove the issue based on the fuse layout diagram/schematic (or just d/c'ing the battery at night, not so favorable being winters here hit -30F easily and doing that each morning would suck just a little), could rewire the entire horn fuse/relay to the steering column but that just seems a little much at this point when it's a functional unit being glitchy.

    Short update:
cleaning and unbolting/re-positioning the entire latch assembly unit did not work, alarm still went off at 5 or 6am (did not go off all night so a slight improvement), is there a way to re-wire and bypass the computerized sensor/component that is giving the bad reading? looks like the actuator/motor system itself can be jumped/bypassed, just trying to figure out which wire groups to focus on.
