What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

I could see the old stock ones being bad for snow, but not these....

 

Installed a B&M 70268 SuperCooler auxiliary transmission cooler to keep the trans temperature in check when towing our travel trailer. Brought the temps down about 30 degrees. Hottest it got was about 198 on the pan sensor with ambient air temp being around 102.

 

Parked it and took a couple pictures

Worked on my storage solutions some more. Should get the remaining storage cases tomorrow. Then finish storing my retrieval, tools, inflator, etc. in them and mount (i.e. LOCK) them to my basket! Got weatherproof name tags yesterday and wrote them up! It's the small stuff that count!

 

Swapped out the silver rear valance. Not too difficult. Glad I had this nice rug to crawl around on while doing it. I will say I was a little hesitant, but after watching a few vids it wasn't that difficult.

 

Got Nav/GPS update. Install was easy & it's from 5-22 so I got 5 newer yrs from original that came W/vehicle.
Been thinking I may trade my 2018 TRD OR for a 2024 to avoid the 2025 new 4Runner in it's 1st run. Plus I like the V6. Dealership where I bought mine has a 2023 white TRD Pro $57k W/couple dealer add-ons . The TRD OR Premium is $54k. They both have "Moon roof's " that won't be stopping me from buying one of the 2 next spring possibly.

What does this do? For people who have never heard of this

 

Just gives more current nav. data. My 2018 came with card from 5-2017, this one is from 5-22.

 

As long as it doesn't wipe the address book and recent trips, I may just break down and get it.

Are those insulated garage doors? Did they come like that or did you add? I just bought some insulation/reflective barrier to add to mine

 

They are insulated doors. I bought the house from the builder.

 

I was able to do the front on the vehicle. Took a little effort, but I got all the clips off using a screwdriver and patience.

 

Very nice. My hope is the stuff I put on regulates temp inside the garage - it's currently brutal in summer and winter in there. I have an old frige/freezer inside that isn't currently coping very well

 

From 2020 to present, the navigation is not on a memory card. The new system is supposed to allow you to update even if there are no data subscriptions. I personally doubt what I have been told by two Toyota Representatives so far. With everything by subscription, I'm sure that they want money to do anything.

 

Agreed, my 21 has old maps and looks like dealer needs to do it.

 

If you cannot go through the update process yourself, and make sure that your DCM signal is strong, one bar is not sufficient, I don't know if a dealership fee for map update is worth it. I mentioned in an earlier post that there was a store that I searched for in the September 2022 map and it gave me an address that hasn't been good for over 5 years (my wife tells me it's been more like 8 years).

Completely unacceptable as Google maps and Garmin both had the update completed years ago.

I would just use Android auto or Apple carplay if it were up to me.

 

Hmm...I think DCM is strong and although I love carplay, my OCD wants to use the main nav and have it updated.

 

No doubt that if there is no SD card then updates are only available over the air (OTA).

OTA goes both ways - I don't buy that they provide updates for free with no subscription. If you don't pay, then you are paying with data

 

Nice Job on the install … forgive me if you already told us about the mounting plate … did fab yourself or purchased aftermarket?

 

I did my break in oil change on my 2023 today at 1100 miles. Feeling relieved.
