What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Those Morimoto lights look amazing. Did you have any issues with the install? I’m ordering a set this week for my 2023 trd pro. Still blows me away it didn’t come with sequential leds from factory

To get it to work on a 2023 you just need to be sure that you have the LF531H harness (optional).


Without this harness you will have all sorts of strange issues.

Additionally, you don't have to connect the DRL fuse-tap wire to the fuse box at all. I wired it up to the headlights as instructed but zip-tied it and tucked it out of the way so its actually not going to the fuse box (did this in case later on down the road I discovered a reason I would need it). I believe you could omit it alltogether.

When wired this way, the DRL work just fine on the lights using the stock control stick when it's set to the DRL position, and you avoid any issues with fuse-taps such as tapping into a critical engine circuit or dealing with EFI2 coming on randomly after the car is turned off. If I had to tap it into the fuse box I would probably go into the cabin to IGN2.

 

Called a local Automotive shop known for good alignments to set up appt for next friday. Gonna get tires rebalanced/Rotated too. The lady said "we only do 4 wheel alignment" Ok But how do you "Align" solid rear axle?

On my taco, the short bolts are for the little plate (recovery plate/towing eyelet) that goes on the SR5 & sport models. When you add the oem tow hook, you take the little bolts out & the eyelet off. Then replace them with the longer bolts & oem tow hook.

Seems Dealer installed option was poorly executed. You should not be using the short bolts with any oem skid plate!!!

You got the Bridgestones too. I paid just about $300 to switch over to the Bridgestone Duelers because the reviews for the Dunlops were so horrendous. I must say, the Dunlops are a smoother and quieter ride. I just hear horror stories about the AT-20's wet traction even in Southern California. While the Bridgestones are not the top-ranked traction tires and they are definitely for paved-road use, they are considered much better. I also saw a chart where it had better rolling resistance than the all-terrain Dunlop tires. Until the country gets a different energy policy, $5 a gallon gas makes me want better gas mileage even more.

Toyoguard? That does not look like the Toyota Financial Services VSA...

You dont align the rear unless you have adjustable rear suspension components. But since we have factory upper and lower arms and non-adjustable panhard bar thisdoesnt come into play here

 

Installed the Toyota OEM rock rails. Not sure how functional they are but they are mostly ornamental. I definitely wouldn’t go rock crawling with them but seem ok for incidental contact.

I couldn’t get rid of the predators. I was about to take them off and throw them in the dumpster and someone on marketplace offered me $300 and I agreed if he removed them. I should have said AND help me install the rails because they are fairly heavy and awkward with one person.

 

I have these also. They are not to bad, okay for occasional off road use. I like them better than the Toyota running boards I had. I put 2 inch plastic caps in the ends of the tubes though. Idk why Toyota leaves the ends of the tubes open.

 

Are these the ones that mount on the frame itself? The frame mounted versions seem stout enough for actual rock sliding.

 

They are frame mounted, they could definitely take a hit.

 

Do they stick out far enough to stand on so you could access things on top of the truck/luggage rack?

 

They don’t stick out at all

 

They mount on the frame with five 12mm screws in threaded holes from the factory.

 

Finally installed the AVS Aeroskin hood protector and regular in-channel window visors.

I have a little overhang on the hood on drivers side, so much that I was worried the sharp edges would scratch the fender. I used a file to smooth the sharp edges on that side. If I had to do it over I'd probably file the sharp edges all the way around. Live and learn.

Back window visors were happy and didn't seem to be an issue. The front window motors didn't sound like they were happy sharing their window space. My hope is that after seating the next few days that VHB tape will flatten out a bit and make more room.

 

Nice, definitely way better than predator steps! That's so awesome you made the fb marketplace guy get under ur truck and uninstall them. If he would have helped you install your sliders too, that'd be a heck of a customer you'd have to be friends after that

Where are you leaking?

 

Last time it was the passenger side front and rear plus the cargo area. This time just the front passenger area. Higher up isn’t wet like a cowl leak or the evaporator box and the sunroof drains are not plugged. Also I haven’t touched the rack. The only thing I disturbed in those areas are the seals when I installed my sound system.
