Engine swap?

I have a black 2004 V6 4.0L 4Runner, my engine went out and I’ve been looking around for new engines and I was wondering if I could put a 4.7L V8 in it?

 

You should be able to (itll fit since they offered them in the 03-09 runners), but if i were you id buy a donor vehicle with the 4.7 since youll likely need the wiring harness, ecu, motor mounts, and other things to make it all work easily.

i remember reading from someone who had a 2004 4runner and replaced the engine with a 2005, same 4.0 v6. Needed to completely swap all electronics before it would even attempt to start
