I’m going to start pretty easy.

I want to get a nicer wheel-tire look. I have an sr5p and like the look of the trdpro.

    What size are those wheels?
    Where can you buy?
    Do I need a lift?
How much is reasonable to spend for each component?

Looking to get this type of look - sorry for pic quality.

Mine is black. Picking up today.

    That runner is lifted

    It has 17" wheels

the tires look to be larger than stock, if I had to guess, 285/70/17

Another good look with less lift is 275/17 tires, Falken Wildpeak AT has that size. Take a look at my Instagram, I have a few installs and my descriptions notate what lift was used.

Prices for quality lift components that will upgrade your vehicle range dramatically from $500 to $3500, just depends on your use. I can help in your decision making there as well.

There are three places that I recommend,
    1. Marie at www.headstrongoffroad.com
    2. ToyTec lifts
    3. Wheelers Off Road
They are all great to work with and have very competitive pricing, along with a wide range of parts selection.

Let me know what you think.

And an FYI, ToyTec I believe is in Colorado, so you may be close enough to them to pay them a visit.

What do you call the bar running boards on the white runner above?

Those look like NFab steps. You could also get some Rock Sliders instead.

OK. Since I first started this thread I have a better idea of what I want to do. I don't want to waste peoples time that responded initially, but if you're still willing to sound off on this topic I would appreciate it.

I am really new to this stuff so please excuse the stupid questions. Trying to learn and only have so much time to piece things together at night.

Here are the things I want to design my 4runner around:
    - I need to drive this car a few thousand miles per month so it needs to ride well with whatever mods I choose. I don't want massive tires that howl going down the road, or create "drivability" issues.
    - I don't want to change tires in winter/summer
    - I want the car to look nice, but I don't want it super high off the ground, more because this is a work vehicle and I don't want to draw attention to it being lifted. I want it to have an athletic stance, but not freakish. The picture in this thread above is a good baseline of what I'm looking for.
    - I want to get a roof rack and bumper for camping

This is an SR5 Premium because I did not need some of the items that came with the more feature rich versions of the 4runner (TRD Pro, etc.). I will not be taking this vehicle to Moab to crawl around on Slickrock. Most of my 4WD will be navigating show to/from the mountains to ski. That being said, I don't need a lot of the higher end excursion gear, but I do want the truck to look rugged/tough.

    With regard to tires/wheels/lifts/shocks/etc.:
    - what type of tires do you recommend given this info? all terrain? It looks like people on the forum are big into the Goodrich K02.
    - I think I'm settling in on 285/70/17 for tire size. I saw these at the local Les Schwab and they were very helpful and had done a few 4runner mods. Is going to Schwab a "party foul"? I'm in the Loveland/Fort Collins area so if there is a local place that does this type of work I'm good with patronizing them.
    - If I go with the Les Schwab recommendation they suggested a 2" coil spacers in front, but nothing in back. What are your thoughts on this?
    - If they lift the car do I new shocks too? I see quite a bit of discussion around Bilstein 5100/6000 series. If I'm not doing excursion stuff is this necessary?

I have other mods I'm interested in but if I can get this sorted out short term it would be helpful.

    Thanks in advance.

Don't do spacers, replace the shocks and coils with after market. Depending on your budget, we can determine what lift will be ideal for you. You'll need either wheel spacers or new rims to accommodate the larger tires along with some possible fender plastic trimming and possibly cab mount chop.
