21 Tundra or 23 4Runner Vote

Im well aware that everyone may be biased toward the 4Runner because this is a 4Runner forum but Im interested in your opinion.

2021 Tundra



2023 4Runner

 

All depends on what you're using it for.

Daily driver/commuting? 4Runner.

Towing/hauling? Tundra.

 

Do you want a full size truck or a midsize SUV? I’d like the towing of the full size but I don’t need it now plus they are terrible on fuel.

 

+1 to this!

If you're going to be towing anything big with any regularity; Tundra.

If you're more interested in camping and off-roading; 4Runner.

 

Both are great options, but will really depend on your needs.

 

The current Tundra is probably better on gas than the 4Runner.

 

Not a easy decision. I came from my 2020 4runner Pro to my 21 tundra pro. I don’t tow and I don’t off road. I like having a truck or 4runner for the winter. I do miss the size of the 4runner. But it’s very hard for me to give up my 21 LunaRock tundra Pro. You have a tough call. Either way you cannot go wrong.

 

What's with all the follow-up questions? Did you read the poll question where the OP states:

Never-mind Depends on what you need it for, I just want your opinion.

He should have stated "I just want your vote". Being on the forum I assume he already knows it's full of lots of opinions. FWIW I went Tundra. It'll seat 5 in the cab, 10 in the bed (when/if needed) and it'll tow twice as much, confidently.

 

I think the OP edited it. In fact, when I first answered this question there wasn't even poll options to actually vote. Either there was a delay, or it was added in later. That's why the original comments asked the question.

My opinion is that if I needed a tow rig or a bed, I would go with the Tundra. If I was looking for something more for off-roading, camping, or as a daily driver around town, I would go with the 4Runner. Without a reason to own either, I really can't say that one vehicle is "better" than the other.

Without any context of use, this is like asking If a hammer is better than vice grips.

Well, after thinking about it a little more, I think the 4R is more unique in the market, and I think it is a more interesting vehicle than the Tundra. Three other manufacturers have direct competitors to the Tundra, but nobody really has one for the 4Runner.

I’d trade in but my Runner is paid off and I love it.

 

The four doors on the pick up make it look like a sedan and the box is shorter than the standard six-foot bed so it looks odd. A two-door Tundra with an eight-foot bed -- now you're talking.

 

My buddy has a new Tundra, he gets 1mpg better than he did with his last Tundra...so about 15.5. I'm sitting at 18.5 over 6500 miles... (but back roads help that immensely, my commute allows me to get 20+ but as soon as I get on the highway that plummets...

My vote on the subject at hand, how much do you hate gas:
1. Hate gas, burn it all - 4Runner.
2. Really hate gas, I wanna burn it all myself - tundra.

 

Neither is great on MPG so that point is crap.

Tundra all day.

 

Huh...In a 4Runner forum and the 2021 Tundra is the (was in the lead) vote over a 2023 4Runner.

 

I didn't edit I only added the Poll. I already own both, Tundra is mine and 4Runner is my wife's.

 

If I had a Tundra, I'd rather have a full-size bed. However, the extra size compared to a 4R is an inconvenience in much of what I do. However, one of my neighbors (a commercial truck mechanic) has owned a twin-cab Tundra for something like 15 years. He had a string of second cars, too, but the Tundra is his last man standing, so it must have a lot going for it.

 

Both...... I have an 08 Tundra which I love and we just bough the wife a 23 4runner, which I like too....

I vote keep them both.

 

I traded in my Tundra for my 4Runner. If it had been a 4WD, I would probably still have it. It was definitely more comfortable than the 4Runner on long drives and I do miss the power. But I also like the maneuverability and marginally better fuel economy of the 4Runner. And I can also sleep in in the 4Runner comfortably.

Tough call

 

Hard choice, but id take the tundra

Since these are two very different use cases, I will presume you want what looks cooler. So pick what looks cooler

 

In Texas they'd both be very hot right now, not cool at all

 

Really just depends what your needs are. If you dont need the towing power of a fullsize truck then 4runner
