Probably been covered here before, but I'm not finding much.

Looking at Lfd ruggedized or victory cross bars. Anyone have them?

Also wondering how high above the rail they stick up?

Was planning on 4xinnovation mounts and a Rola basket but now thinking crossbars and a cheap basket I already have.

Post up some pictures if anyone has these installed!

Type LFD in the search field and you’ll see hundreds of thread references. Lots of pics too. I have them and am very satisfied with fit and finish. Coming up on 3 years and no issues.

One picture I haven't found is from the side showing how far they are above the rails.

A lot of pictures from odd angles and 50ft away. If I would have found the info or pictures I was looking for I wouldn't have posted a thread.

Seems like people can't post enough pictures of their 4Runners, but ask for a specific one and you get the classic "uSE tHE sEaRch fuNction" durrrr!

Both website have terrible photos as well.

I have the crossbars and I’m happy with them. I’ll post some pics.

I know they’re not close up but those were the ones I could find that you can zoom in on and see the side profile.

I did not use the fairing bar as it was too close to the roof for my liking.

Do you feel there's extra wind noise due to no wind fairing present?

Wokld there be enough space to mount a roof basket on top of it.

Yes a roof basket would fit. Might have to use different hardware to mount it tho.

I'd be careful w/ victory. They sent me parts that didn't fit, after they insisted that they would.

Then they made ME pay to send them back.

And the high school kid that answered my calls was a real ignorant butthead.

I don't know. I removed the fairing immediately. Was way to close to the paint.

Have you considered modifying it for greater clearance? What do you see as the challenges to doing so?

I meant noise level now vs oem cross bars, not LFD with/without fairing. Unless you never had oem cross bars.

The OEM XBars were placed by the "reduce wind noise" sticker. The LFD's are further forward on the rail. Wind noise is very tolerable but they are louder.

Ordered 2, 2" Lfd bars. Plan to u-bolt my cheapo roof basket too it. It won't stay up there and the bars will come off too. The Lfd hardware lets you mount the bars without removing the plastic caps on the ends of the rails...should make pulling the bars off easy.

With a plastic trim tool, the end caps pop right off. This guy used a paint can opener.

I realize that.... I'd prefer not to take them on and off. Usually things with plastic tabs get loose the more you mess with them.

Would you know if the LFD would work with Thule or other brand attachments like kayak holders or ski holders or boxes.

I have LFD bars (no longer in use due to a full rack being installed). Overall, they were great and in some respects better than my rack given the style of the bar. I didn't have any noticeable wind noise when the fairing was installed. They do work with my Thule Alpine box, however, due to the factory roof rails being set back on the roof, the rear hatch would touch the box when open. Not a huge deal but something to be aware of if you're using a longer box. They should work with any clamp style accessory (such as Thule, Yakima) as well as many bolt on accessories from the likes of Front Runner.

I don't have any experience with any of those but you might reach out to them and ask. They're a pretty well thought of company.
