Put a deposit down on a Prius Prime. Not getting rid of the 4R, rather my VW. My commute is short enough that I can use the battery range alone and use my gas savings to fill up the 4Runner lol.

Picked up a used batwing 270 awning and added some side decals

 

Could you explain how this works? I hear people often say this, but never can get someone to explain how. A prius gets at most 25 miles on battery. If you're charging at work and maxing out those 50 miles per day and you work about 250 days a year thats only saving around $2k annually. E-Gas here averages $2.77, and $3.05 for Real gas. $2.77 per gallon going 12500 annual miles at 17mpg = $2036.76. How can you buy a new, more than $32k car so cheap that you're saving $2k a year over your current investment. I have a '22 and average 17mpg and travel about 5500 miles a year. At $2.77 per gallon, I can drive 200k miles before that Prius would be financially viable just to purchase. Thats about 30 years of driving this 4runner. Is the Prius that much cheaper than your VW? Please share your financial secret. Us dummies out here would sure appreciate it.

Got my RCI sliders installed yesterday. Things are beefy and if anyone swings a door at them at the mall, they’re gonna besorry. Lol

The RCI sliders stick out that much to where a car door will hit these first before your doors? They stick out more than the stock ones?

 

If its a low rider, yes. Most doors clear the slider just enough to ding ya though. Have the 20 degree RCIs. Still park in Bumfuckt.

 

Took the skids off to clean them and do the driveline fluids and discovered the RCI front had taken some damage in the center at the logo, so reinforced it with a small patch of steel.



Also took the opportunity to replace the front diff plugs with the Lexus versions, and while I was there, I asked for a few extra crush washers. I gave him the Toyota part number figuring the systems are shared, and he brought back the same washers, but yellow (brass?) instead of silver (steel?). The Lexus washer might also be ever so slightly narrower, but rounder (like it’s less flattened out than the Toyota washer), but maybe that’s just a batch difference.

Thought it was interesting the slight differences.

 

Changed spark plugs. These had 144K on them.

 

In case anyone ever wondered how the factory predator steps look minus the steps, here ya go. And yes I know it's still a body mount not frame but it looks good I think and I got tired of busting my shins.

 

How did it go? Pretty easy?

 

Pretty easy. I have the 2011 so I didn't have to take off anything. The passenger side was easiest. The driver side I only had to take off the heater core lines bracket and I zip tied the hoses to a bracket to pull them out of the way. Whole thing took me 2 hours, going very slow, and drinking coffee in between. About .5 hours was using tape for each plug install as my spark plug socket lost it's magnetizing ability. Cyl 4 and 6 are slow going because there is not too much room. Extensions are your friend.
