Anyone heard anything about these? Lots of speculation on nextgen 4runner. On paper these look cool I have never seen seats like these.

    https://carbuzz.com/news/2024-toyota-tacoma-trd-pro-has-the-coolest-seats-in-the-world

What are IsoDynamic Performance Seats, you ask? Well, Toyota says these sophisticated perches provide enhanced occupant comfort when venturing off-road and traversing harsh terrain. The seats use an air-over-oil shock absorber system that allows the seat to move vertically and laterally at the same time.

I was wondering WTF these things were. Thanks for posting.

Looks great for the driver and front passenger.

Looks like the rear passengers will be struggling to find leg room.

    body roll and seat roll.
I think this is gimmicky. And as @nimby says it will eat up into rear space.

very unToyota of them, they look expensive to repair/replace and complicated.

oh wait, that sounds like KDSS!

KDSS is not complicated. Just expensive.

Maybe shock absorbing seats make sense on as something that runs fast over desert terrain. But on most off road situations it seems the best way to deal with rough terrain is to get your back off the backrest and let your torso move independently, kinda like riding a horse. Not sure I’d want my back up against the seat in rough situations.

Will just need to keep the rear of the seats cleaned so there is no corrosion..;)

They have split the Tacoma too trim in 2. The TRD Pro is getting these seats and is set up like a Baja pre runner. Fast deserts, whoops, etc. The new Trailhunter is more the crawling/overland setup. Tailhunter is not getting the seats.

As long you can get them comfort valved for Costco speed bumps and curbs these should be successful!

I'm adding bump stops and limit straps to these seats to increase longevity.

I am sure they are recommended by orthopedic surgeons :)

Well doc I was doing some high speed racing across the desert in my truck over some rough terrain. I had Fox shocks and these air rides seats but for some reason my back really hurts. Any ideas?

I think it’s a bad idea because people now already think they have a trophy truck when they put shocks on it so I think this would take more feeling out of the ride and resort in vehicle damage when offroad.

Hey now, you are not wheeling it hard until you jump and total it by bending the frame in half

This is James and 5100s. He tried to commit insurance fraud and spent some time in a holding cell. Mom fixed it all and now he’s got full LT in another Tacoma.

Yes but it is extremely useful. I have driven non KDSS models, and will certainly keep mine.

I dig having it. I'll maintain mine when the time comes just like everything else.

I think the people that complain about it are the same ones that complain about having to remove a skid to do the oil change.

Or don't have the Pro Fox suspension and trumpet how much better other suspensions are.

Well in all honesty, I do that because I know the Pro Bro shocks are nothing special. They're geared more towards street comfort because everyone wants a Cadillac ride.

Never having ridden in a Pro, I've got nothing to say...these new seats give you a lot more places in the back seat to hang things...

Is it not warranted? $8000 repair for a $1500 option? That's something out of Land Rover's playbook, not what people get into 4Runners for.

All ORPs in Canada have KDSS and I have a feeling down the road having KDSS is going to be a liability that will kill resale value.

I'd buy these if they bolt into the 4runner. We'll see how much they cost individually if you can get them. 2-3k each?

It's warranted in a thread about KDSS, not in any other thread about anything else.
