    Hey All,

Newbie here, I purchased my first 4Runner last month. I wanted a TRD Pro but of course they are hard to come by new and are priced well over MSRP. So without really doing much research, I opted for the Limited mostly for the extras inside the vehicle. I wasn't planning on taking it off roading but more for a daily driver. I recently bought new wheels and tires, the stock are 245/55/20. When i was consulting with the guy at discount tire he stated that 275/55/20 would fit. Well ordered the wheels and tires and when they went to install them, they rubbed. So I was stuck. I liked the bigger wheel look and did not want to go for a smaller tire. I was planning on doing a lift eventually down the line but now it looks like it's going to have to happen now. I brought it in for a quote and they stated the 4runner limited runs on a hydraulic suspension system and if I install a lift kit, it will deactivate that system and give me an error. They also stated that I have limited options to the type of kits available. Can anyone give me any insight on lift kits on 4Runner Limited. I want to make sure I make the right decision before committing another $2k that i don't have.

I have the same problem, anxious to see what people say about the lift for the limited.

i've got the 3in toytec leveling spacer lift on my 14 limited, which i like to call "un"limited now. The thing is amazing offroad!! originally i couldn't wait to get rid of the xreas suspension because of what i read, but after beating it up a bit on trails and such i see no reason to until it craps out or starts to leak (which supposedly happens after 100k mi). It climbs rocks with ease, flies through the desert smoothly and everything! I've had lifted tundras, and tacoma's and this things a beast! People hate on the limited because dealers tell you they are for the street but after putting mine through its paces the suspension system acts more like a bypass shock with a reservoir. So you get the best of both worlds.

I was at broken arrow trail in sedona 2 weeks ago and was with a 4runner Trail and his buddy who had a Rubicon and both of them wouldnt go down devils stair case because they had done it bunch before and were afraid it would damage their vehicles. It was my first time doing the trail and i wanted to try in the limited. I did the entire trail and went down the staircase with ease and not a scratch! Also i've been wheeling since before i could drive but dont think your "limited" because you've got leather and comforts inside;)!

Bringing this one back. My wife and I bought a 2018 limited and would like to this same spacer lift (she cant stand the soccer mom look but couldn't go without the bells and whistles on the inside). @PAULJJR2000 will that lift work on our vehicle as well?

Yeah, the kit we got from toytec is specifically for the limited with xreas suspension. it will work on yours. Its great for most things and fits 33's . I would like to go all out and redo the entire suspension with an icon or similar but my wife isn't on board to spend the $$, and i have gone so many places with the toytec kit, so i can't really justify it.

Right on man. I haven't installed one of these before but it doesn't look too hard. I really like the way yours looks. Did you have a hard time selling the 20s that were on it?

We ditched the XREAS on my wifes 18 Limited. We put the Toytec Eibach lift on it. Added benefit was it got rid of A LOT of the nose dive everytime you applied the brakes.

Sweet! what did you get for them? I am thinking of getting the lift for my wife for our wedding anniversary next month. The tires should have around 4,500 miles on them by then.

If we still have this thing by the time the suspension system wears out (which I doubt we will) I will definitely look into this. Cost of lift kit? Cost of install?

$729.00 for the lift and $450 for the install. The install took longer because they had to remove the XREAS.

I guess my only thought would be is it compatible with the XREAS suspension..? Other than that I feel that just about all suspension upgrades are better than stock if you plan to take it off road... or even to just get rid of the nose dive. The stock tires are kinda squishy as well... A 3" lift will make plenty of room for a little beefier tire.

I sold them for around $550 i think but the tires were toast, so i didn't charge for those.

FJ3-RSP - Toytec Lift / Leveling kit for 4Runner- Works with XREAS
Im a little late getting to this thread. just posting for others to have more info. I have a 2016 4 runner limited with XREAS. Got my 3" lift from Toytec. . I really liked the factory wheels so i kept them. I put 265/55/20 Cooper Discover at3 xlt tires on. Tires do not rub. I took it to the tire place in town and they were afraid to mess with the XREAS system. So i ended up taking it to the Toyota dealer. Tires cost $1010 ( they had a deal going, buy 3 get 4th tire for $1). Lift kit was $330. Lift kit install was $840. All in was $2180. The kit says its a 3" lift in the front and 1.5" lift in the rear. my front went up 4.5" and the rear went up 2". Before, the height difference from front to back was 2.5'. After it sets perfectly level. Fuel mileage went from 17 mpg to 15.5 mpg. front before.jpg front after.jpg rear before.jpg rear after.jpg Runner before.jpg runner after.jpg

You need to measure from the center of the hub to the lower fender lip to determine how much lift you achieved.
3 inches in the front would be about 23 inches.
Measuring from the ground is not very accurate.

FYI..If you are really lifted 4.5 inches in the front (which I doubt) you are way too high. Your CV angles will be shit and your boots will not last very long, not to mention the CVs themselves.

Here is before and after pics. It’s a 3” revtech lift. 3 in front, 2 in the rear. It’s made for the SR5 and FJ, but works with the limited. If you go this rout, make sure they notch the shock spacer in the rear end or the washer will squeak really bad. Had to take it back 3 times till they figured it out.

Oh, and those are 275 75 R17 BFG KO2s if you’re wondering. They rub a little when backing up and hard turned to either side. I could trim it, but the wife is not bothered by it. It barely rubs.

Bringing this thread back one more time. I'm taking my wife's 17 Limited to the shop on Monday to have the Daystar spacer lift, tires and Spidertrax wheel spacers installed. Looking at $850 out the door which might be a little high but I know the shop does quality work. Plus supporting local business is always a plus.

Great looking rig! I might have to take King into consideration now once the XREAS system goes out. Quick question, did you swap the front grill and hood? I assume you had to get them repainted. Finally, what slider is that?
