What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

I got my 3/2" lift and BMC finished this week. I replaced my Westoctt Pre-collar with 2.5" Elka DC Reservoirs, Dobinson UCA, Toytec Super Flex rear coils and Duro Bump bump stops. I think when the 285 70/ R17 BFGs wear out I'll probably either go 285 75/R17 or maybe even 295s. Still Im loving how she sits now. I know lots of folks are curious about the Elka 2.5 DCs so once I have a bit of off road experience with em I'll do a review thread. I can say they are major on-road ride improvement over the stock Fox TRD suspension.

Small things today. Trying to do a few cosmetic things before I make the pricier decisions. Black grille bar overlay - didn't want to get rid of the AG so changing it up from the Pro grille, Laminate-X fog light covers, and interior wash (freakin Oklahoma pollen).

Next up better floor mats and valence mod - either plasti-dip or switch for black out.

$200 in shop charges later, running boards removed

 

Changed the rear diff oil with ~3 quarts of Quaker State 75W140. Had to use an M18 impact to loosen the rusted plugs, but the oil came out clean and clear. Put in a rock crawler-grade Trail-Gear P/N 140032-1-KIT allen socket magnetic drain plug because I had it on hand.

I just pulled the trigger on the same lo pro bump and a Heretic white light bar.
Is yours installed yourself? Any tips? Bedliner or powder coated?

getting off the stock ones were a TOTAL BITCH

I wanted to destroy them after they finally came off

 

Installed a 43" Cali Raised LED Amber/White Dual Function Light Bar on a Prinsu roof rack, a vinyl wrap on the faring, and rock sliders.

200 big ones to remove your running boards? Dude, you could've removed them yourself and used them as lawn darts.

 

^Consequence of a 13 year-old vehicle in road salt, the weld nuts in the body broke. Turn each bolt and the bolt just spins but wouldn't unthread. I had to take it to a shop for them to liquify the bolts with a cutting torch.

 

Replaced suspension with King shocks. Sorry, no full vehicle shot of finished work just yet.

Haha yeah with all the glares in the phone from the light bar I could def see that. But when driving off-road at night it sure does help to see every fly swarming around!

 

Removed heritage grill and just blacked out stock grill.

yes I did the install myself it was really very straight forward! You’ll want a hand getting the bumper up on the front end (unless you are the hulk). Cutting was a bit unnerving. Wiring was all made easy with a Switch Pro

did you just order the grille replacements for the top and bottom? I am trying to get this look but with the AG.

 

If I could make the raptor lights, light bar, and fang lights go on sequentially it sure would! My auxbeam has a strobe function that could mimic it. lol

 

@DmackSCV3 that'd be sick depending if you wired your lights to the interior dash; I bet you could t-tap into hazard lights wires!? Similar to tapping into OEM switches for dimming illumination

 

Oil and filter change on the 4Runner. 6.3L of Pennzoil 0W30, Denso 1503020 filter, Dorman 65271 crush washer, Dorman 090049.1 drain plug (factory one was rusty).



Test-fitted the Tacoma stock engine skid for shits and giggles - it fits but interferes with the 4Runner front skid.

 

Replaced the original Denso air filter after 17k miles with a K&N.

 

Got the Avs low pro on. These are smoke, anyone use the matte black? I haven’t seen those in person yet.
