After they get done forcing you into electrics (to be powered by a failing power grid), the next step will be forcing you into mass transit. So long freedom, makes me glad I'm not young.

Who cares? This never shows everything anyway.
You, sir, are not the normies that are going to be swapping engines and transmissions. They're going to go to the mechanic just like they always did and pay for their repairs just like they're used to doing. However, there will be a new breed of abnormies that will be swapping batteries. You might even become one.

Because fossil fuels run a very real risk of increasing pollution to the point that we'll get screwed royally. And if not us, then near future generations. Like I learned in the last few years that you're referring to, we've got to protect each other, which a lot of people didn't learn which is why we ended up with so many Americans dead. Hell is a bunch of people with no arms sitting around a table angry at each other because they're hungry and can't feed themselves. Heaven is a bunch of people with no arms sitting around a table helping each other eat and everyone's happy because nobody's hungry. We as a society chose hell. Deal with it. I am.

Also LOL if I try to ride a horse on pretty much any road here in the suburbs I'm going to get in some kind of trouble for sure.

You seem like an airhead and you're given to voicing opinions on matters you have no actual knowledge or insight in. Perhaps you're just a troll. Shrug. And what is the Tyra Banks comment even supposed to mean??

    I'm saying I'm sexy and you're butt-ugly.

I also think you're a dumb conspiracy theorist, so let's agree to disagree.

I'm still hotter than you, though.

I'm the furthest thing from a conspiracy theorist but unlike you, I understand the concept of incremental changes on the way to bigger ones and I'm not naive enough to think that the next step is the final one. Anyway, I'm done debating you because from a distance I might get mistaken for being the idiot in this exchange! P.S, I love that ignore button!

You're getting the ignore button in response, Masshole!

And my parting gift to you which I bet you'll see because I bet you're too petty to leave that ignore function on without seeing if you won or lost:

I think arrogant more than an airhead. I sense a feeling of superiority at times. Loves to talk down to people. I do not play that game. Never have, and never will. I am sorry if I have came to the wrong conclusion, but from most comments that I have read from him, we are all less intelligent. If my judgment has been wrong, I apologize, but somehow I do not feel that it is.

The Masshole's great first contribution to this topic was about how EVs are the next step on the grand master plan to get us all into mass transit and how he bemoaned the loss of freedom and how he is glad he's so old that he's not going to live long enough to see the effects of the grand Masshole transit master plan. Then he claims he's not a conspiracy theorist but has a great understanding of how freedumbs erode over time.

I say the sooner he's gone the sooner he won't be around to further screw up the next generation like his generation already did to mine. Thanks for all that lead paint and leaded fuel and borrowing against your own childrens' future to fund your own decline, grandpa.

I friggin' hate these EV topics. It always brings out the stupidest people. Once again, I'm out of this EV topic. I'm not coming back to it. I'll be back for the next EV topic and will regret clicking on that one, too.

I find it interesting that people bitch about govt subsidies for EV's yet they don't complain about govt subsidies for gasoline.

Why is that? Are they unaware that gasoline in the USA is subsidized?

If we didn't have any govt subsidies for gasoline, we'd be paying something around $14/gallon right now.

If you want to get rid of govt subsidies for EV's, let's get rid of gasoline subsidies too and see how it all pans out.

You’re a moron if you support or think this is a good idea.
This has nothing to do with saving the planet and all to do with controlling how you drive, when you drive and where you go. Once you are on the grid, they control everything.
And magically you are about to see the rollout of the digital dollar…anybody connecting the dots????

The real issue is the whole issue with coal and oil is that it is political. In the first world countries, it helped them quickly establish the nations they are. By imposing limitations on the world, it enables them to keep that political hold of power. Same with uranium, it’s posed as risk of a country creating nuclear weapons when nuclear power plant works the most efficiently at providing electricity to a developing nation.

I think electric cars have their place, and good for the “well to do” and rich folks that can afford them (or get them as a business vehicle). The government housing and subsidized housing we have local to me can barely keep up with safe and healthy living for residents … none of those places are on any list for upgrades to support charging a car. If we care about people, then let’s look at the numbers of those impacted vs the minority with the loudest voice or most to spend on a feel good campaign. If the last 2.5 yrs has taught anyone anything, is that the government doesn’t care about us. Compassion has come from individuals not institutions.

You want a joke, the state is forcing us to design EV charging stations in to low income housing (pretty sure if you're legit in low income housing, you cannot afford an EV...and if you can you should be investigated for fraud).

But it isn't just renters. A lot of the northeast uses oil to heat homes. Most of those houses have a 100A panel and no room to add a circuit for an EV charger (well, maybe at 120V so if you can afford to take 3 days to charge your car it might work).

I know what you mean about saving to buy a house...I had a house, my ex got it in the divorce, now I'm in an apartment with a car payment (my F150 was 8 years old with 160k miles and while it ran great, I needed something with no link to my past life). If all goes well, I'll be where I need to be in 2 years...would have been sooner but interest rates kinda screwed that up.

I find it amusing that anyone driving a 5th gen 4runner is arguing against fossil fuels. There are EVs and plug-in hybrids you could have bought to save the planet instead of a 2020 gas guzzler.

Back in 2005 or so, Toyota said they would offer all models with a hybrid powertrain by 2010. I waited. They finally came out with a hybrid Tundra in 22' and it's over $70k. Yeah, no thanks.
