We are going to be ordering a new 2018 4R SR+ soon and am interested in recommendations for side steps. I have the N-Fab Nerf Steps on my 2016 Tacoma...and was thinking of putting the same on the 4R - Is there something else I should be looking at? - Thanks Clay

I changed some lights, tires and tinted windows...mind blowing huh
if you're just looking for steps I do like the N-Fab's, or are you looking for maybe a slider with a fill plate on the top to use as a step?

I had the n-Fab's on my 2016 Tacoma, which I traded for my 2017 4Runner. I went with Magnum steps and I'm very glad that I did. Much beefier and better quality in my humble, yet somewhat experienced, opinion.

Oh, and the install is real straight forward. My daughter installed hers on her 2016 by herself.

N-Fab has a number of offerings - The new Runner will be 'her' ride so sliders etc are not required. Ease of access is the goal.

They are Magnum..I bought two sets of them directly from them. I see they are no longer on their web site, but several reputable outlets still have them for under $400. Like I said, I'd do it again and I've had N-Fabs, which were fine, just not nearly as beefy as the Magnums. Packaging was excellent as were the instructions.

We are going to purchase an SR5+ . I noticed yours is a Off Road - Not sure of the differences between the height of the step (Distance above ground) Could you measure ? Also what is the Model Number of the Magnums? BTW - Love the color - My 2016 Taco Sport is also Barcelona, our 4R will match.

The SR5 and the TRD off road are the same height...unless my KDSS alters that, but I don't think it does.

Thanks to everyone that responded - Today we went to our local dealer (Doxon in Auburn, Wa) where my wife got to try out the Toyota Predator Steps and pronounced them perfect ! They were added to the order for our 2018 Runner. Clay

If it’s not too late to remove the Predator steps from your order, they are super easy to install. My local dealer matched the best price I found online ($471) and install was free and took 30 minutes. My daughter helped briefly balance the steps so I could start the first bolt. That’s it, that’s all. Dealer price plus install costs more than it should. Good luck.

Am very familiar with how the steps go on. Considering the price of the total package - the step's are a small percentage - I'm already beating on them over the total bottom line. Latest work is ours will be here the end of the month. Thanks anyway - Clay

Trading my ‘16 Taco TRD OR for an ‘18 4R TRD OR with KDSS. Hope I’m making a good move. Predator steps are the first addition when it comes in.

Dollardave, were your TRD OR letters black stock or did you dip them? My silver 4R will have silver emblems. Would like black.

These steps look like they hang pretty low. How much do they decrease ground clearance??? I just raised mine 2.5" and don't want to defeat that.

The steps are pretty high. Some of the reviews on them were people complaining being to high cause of getting in the 4Runner. I’m 5’5 and really don’t need them. I put them on to protect from door dings. They also look good in person.

Wasn't talking about yours. They look like they are plenty high, as high as sliders in fact. I was wondering about the steps in previous posts. The Magnums look like they would really restrict ground clearance.

I used the Nox Lux kit for the front and back logos/lettering and then dipped the pillars' letters (and my valances front and rear). Nox Lux has the kits now for the pillars, but I'm not a fan of the black connecting of the letters - but, a dremel would take care of that I'm sure.

I have a 3in lift and the nfab step downs look like i will be having the same issue with my current running boards, that they are too high and do nothing. I have seen the new predators for the 4runners. Does anyone have them and if so do you like them, they seem like they come down far enough for my passengers to stop complaining.

Also do they stick out enough to protect against door dings, my stock running boards are great for that being high up and stick way out, but thats about all they do.

A few posts back "rsimi72" has a pic of the Toyota Predator Pros (part number 00016-89705) on his truck and they look great. I have the same ones for my 2018 TRD OR Premium, which is due in this week. Steps are already at the dealer awaiting the 4R. if you googled that part number it says this accessory is no longer available from SE Toyota. Think that means for the general public because dealer can get them. And wesleychapeltoyota-scion has them on eBay for $500 and free shipping. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-18-TO...ash=item56a5212717:g:Y~4AAOSwbw1aDLYL&vxp=mtr
    They are in FL.

Yep. I have the Predator steps. I like them a lot. Had them on my Tacoma, too. Great for getting in and out but probably not much protection from door dings. I’d recommend for sure.

Are your Nfabs the 2" or 3" main tubes? I'm looking at them right now and the 2" are $312 and the 3" are $329 but I want to see how they look and how tight they are to the body of the 4runner before I do it. There is also a $40 mail in rebate so final cost would be $289.45
