I am new to the 4runner forum but not new to Toyota. Went from a 2009 TRD Sport Tacoma to a 2014 Tundra Limited, and now looking to be in a 2017/2018 4Runner Limited 2WD. Just trying to decide if the mods I have planned will work out with that exact one.

My Tacoma was also 2WD, but I installed the Maxtrac 4" lift spindles with Bilsteins in front and rear and loved the ride it produced. I was running 20" XD wheels on 33" Trail Grapplers.

My Tundra I went with a different approach since lifting the truck would cost thousands with the way I wanted to do it. Many mods later it is still not the way I want it and would cost so much more to get it there, so it's time to move on to another build.

I'm looking at lifting the 4runner with the 4" Maxtrac spindles in the front and maybe a 2-3" lift in the rear with new springs, shocks, and extended break lines. I'm hoping this would achieve the look I'm going for and still a smooth ride on the road. I never offroad, but it's always nice to have a lifted vehicle.

I found this picture online with the sized wheels and tires I may be looking at. Anyone know what they are? (size lift, tire, and wheel?) Thinking it's a 3" lift sitting on 33's with a 22" wheel...

It looks like it has a 3" spacer lift in that photo and most likely had to trim to fit. If had to guess even with a 4" spindle lift (again not sure they make one yet for 5th gens) you will probably need to trim quite a bit to fit those 12" wide wheels. You are kind of in no man's land on this one. 99.9999% of us are lifting 4x4's with 2-3" of lift and 8.5" wheels. Wish I could give you a more definitive answer but there really is nobody else running that kind of setup.

Thanks for the information... I knew that this forum, along with many others (tundras.com, tacomaworld.com, etc.), mainly appeal to true off-road builds, but I have no use for 4WD where I live and never will. I just like driving something that no one else has and for it to turn some heads. Missed my Tacoma since I sold it as it got a ton of attention everywhere it went.... I couldn't even stop to get gas without talking to someone about it. LOL

I can't wait to get the 4Runner now and get my build started!

    None...yet...
I'm sure someone is running wide wheels like that on a 4runner but this forum isn't as active as the Tacomaworld forum. You may get the answer you want over there. I didn't need 4x4 on either of my vehicles either but I went the simple route with my Tacoma and only added Bilstein 5100s on it to make the front sit level with the rear and I'm only running a 265/70/17 I believe. If/when I add rims to my wife's 4runner i'll probably stick to something simple like that on it as well.
