Don't wait too long, or you risk being labeled as a useless 4Runner parts hoarder.

All done! Vacation addresses programmed into GPS. Reservations made. (Postponed a month due to us getting COVID followed by wife's stomach flu!). Took off roof basket.

I’ve also wrenched on my own vehicles for over 30+ years. I’m not as physically capable as I used to be but I still wrench when I can. I get lazy most of the times as my 4Runner is my day off/ back up vehicle.

As I posted before, my KING front coil overs are on back order till July. I’m not installing any of the parts I listed until I have the fronts in hand.

But, good for you, for letting everyone know that YOU work on your own rig. Someone might be impressed here.

Appreciate the head's up, I didn't even know that was an option. I'm all for people having a dissenting opinion, but when in every thread I see them in, the same poster seems to have nothing better to do than starting arguments or trash talking others to boost their own ego, I can do without reading any more of it.

Tomorrow I'm having my Hefty Fab front bumper and winch installed. I happily admit that is way beyond my skill level. I'm not mechanically inclined. The following day I'm moving to Mexico, which should be a fun adventure.

You'll find that others who haven't put those members on ignore will quote their posts once in a while, and you'll remember why you did.

Interesting. That is a big step. Hope everything goes as planned.

I appreciate it! It'll be fun, and it'll complete the trio of the big North America countries for me, since I've lived in the US and Canada already. My goal is to learn some Spanish, and by next year I hope to head up to Alaska and start driving the PanAmerican highway with my pup. For the first time in my life, I'm no longer supporting a family and I just retired, so the time is right to do some adventuring.

    Shit, the list keeps growing.
    • AVS low pro and window visors (waiting on wash - just turned on exterior water for power washer because not afraid of freezing anymore this year)
    • Anytime front/rear camera, license plate relocation kit when SSO swing away is delivered and installed (not delivered yet)
    • CTH flat black rear valance (when I remove, clean rust, and reinstall rear factory hitch)
    • OVS 180 - still haven't mounted brackets or awning. Need to re-sell gobi brackets for different awning. Thread pending. Want to move Gobi sunroof insert and then make OVS brackets work
    • OEM wiper blade inserts and backups
    • Blue Sea Systems cutoff switch for hardwired winch. Also need to buy armored sheathing for the winch cables
    • Idk, probably more cosmetic crap
    Edit: Forgot the pic

OK, I'm putting myself on the hook here. I opened a box from Apex Overland today containing front recovery points. The parts and tools are all laid out like surgical instruments in the operating room.

I haven't worked on a suspension since 1988, when I put new leaf springs and tie rods on a '76 Nova. Of course that car had 150k miles on it compared to 75 miles my 4R, so the bolts should come out easier. They better, because getting up off the floor too many times isn't as easy 35 years later.

You did it without taking off the skid plate? Other members have reported doing that, I'm really tempted to try it that way, and only remove the skid plate and air dam if I don't have enough room to maneuver. ( I know the details are different with KDSS and the different skid plate, but perhaps not different enough to invalidate the comparison.)

I have a good amount to wrap up still but starting with my winch n bumper(hefty full)…question is to anyone who has the Ironman winch…how hard was it to locate a spot to mount the control box?
I ask cause they have a 25% sale right now for an extension cable

I’m debating on moving my dual ARB from driver side to behind my grill n use that area for an electrical setup

meaning my control box could be in the “usual” spot, or I could have some wiggle room with extra cable…

    thoughts?

My driver's side grab handle installation was on deck, but two items jumped the queue: sleeping platform and roof basket. I hope to get the basket done this weekend (paint and assemble), then move on to the platform.
