This is how it was with mine, delievered and drove it home like this also. It came off the truck like this. Plastic on roof, hood, plastic wrapped in all seats, door jam covers. Didnt let the dealer wash or remove anything, just inspection.

freezing rain and winter mix when i picked up my new 2022 4runner at the dealership (it literally arrived on the truck the night before i picked her up) ... they pulled it inside the service bay for a walk around and inspection... then i did the normal quick test drive to make sure it was good to go...

if your dealer doesn't want to bring it inside even the service bay then i would be suspect...

Me personally would like the wraps to be removed and complete the PDS by the dealer. So if any paint was damaged by removing the wraps its on dealership to fix.

When the Pre delivery service is completed by the dealer I as the user will do little bit of my testing like if alignment is good, wheel balance, if rood rack cross bars tighten, etc.. especially if its a TRD Pro where lot of TRD Pro parts installed locally. Yes I personally had issues with those items. I also had moonroof leaking.

Main reason why I didnt want them to remove any wraps or plastice inside or out because I had long drive home. I rather have any little outside protection, regards if its just film than none while Im on the highway. At the end it was well worth it that I did. Paint correction needed under the film highly unlikely.

Once home, i did my own removal of all plastics and films. Did a full through inspection and found no issues. Drive like a dream, any problem, thats why I have warranty. Just my own experience, others might be different.

I drove from Sac to Reno through a snowstorm to pick mine up. Then drove it back through the snowstorm home. Went through 6 inches of fresh before it had 25 miles on the clock.
However it was in a delivery bay and I was able to inspect.

Kmeeg, how did you know moonroof was leaking? Wet seats, floor? And how was that resolved? Resolved before you signed papers? Sounds like the drains were clogged from factory?I think there may be removal of interior kick plates (driver door area) or A-Pillar moldings to access drain tubes?

Picked up two separate 4Runners in Charlotte North Carolina at the same dealer, Both in rainy conditions and each time was able to inspect each thoroughly as they delivered in a covered area and allowed as much time as required for inspections.

Congratulations on your up coming purchase!

I found the leak way later. When the inner cover was open water splashed inside. It was adjusted to close properly under warranty. It was adjustments not any clogging. Dealership has tested running through their car wash and everything was good.

It’s interesting item number 1 on the checklist seems to say to do any service related to service bulletins.

Good to see the parking brake is in there. Although being connected is probably all it takes to “pass”.

Good checklist to have if you’re not sure how to go about checking things when taking delivery.

PDI is also done at the dealership. I would highly recommend telling the dealership to NOT detail your new vehicle. This will be done with a shop broom and towels that have been dropped on the ground many times.

When I picked up mine I advised the dealership to leave all plastic on and to not touch the vehicle other than their PDI checklist. After taking possession I had a paint correction done on it and immediately applied Xpel PPF.

I have delivered a few cars in the rain. No different than a non rainy day, most of the tutorial is about inside the vehicle.

Its funny for me because I guess I'm a families face to the dealerships around me and last time a sales guy in the vehicle with me was like a decade ago.. Ever since its more like here's the keys, let me install the temp plates for you. :p:p:p
