Hey there, new here with the 4runner I should have had a long time ago. Just bought a 12 SR5. I don't plan many mods, it's main purpose will be a daily driver and it's off road adventures will be mostly getting my wife and I to the interesting rivers and streams in SW MO and NW Arkansas for our canoeing. I drove a Land Rover for the last few years and it sure is a pleasure to not have to work on it all week so I can drive it on the weekend.
Seems like a nice group you all have here, Greg

Welcome! Congrats on your 2012. Any pics?
What was the most common thing that broke down on your LR?

Honestly Bob, it just seemed to be something new all the time everything started leaking, my garage floor was a mess. Seemed like I had a new code on the engine analyzer every couple of weeks...I really can't point to one specific area...and the crazy thing is, I loved the damn thing.

Sounds like my MG, but boy I loved that thing... almost wish I still had it... Almost... ...okay if I had room, I would still have it and still love it. Thankfully no code reader available for that baby, I'd have likely gone nuts!

:canada:Had a couple of Land Rovers in '69 and '75, new, and had no problems with them, but the '16 4R SR5 Trail is a world apart. I've owned 4x4s since my first new Int'l Scout in 1964, plus Ford, Jeep, Isuzu and Mitsubishi. The 4R is, far and away, the best of them all. All the best of luck with yours. - Cheers, Ted

HA! There are still a few Scouts around here, the International plant that built them is here in town, obviously it's just a giant building with many different small businesses filling a portion of it. I was too young when it was in operation to have any sort of idea how important those rigs actually were to the American 4x4 culture. Was a huge employer back in the day here as well (Fort Wayne, IN.) But the ones around are nicely restored. A few old binder trucks around still too, which in the rust belt is saying a lot. Always thought I wanted an old LR but kept myself in the 4runners and can say I have no regrets on that. I do miss that MG though. Goin to the big auction this weekend, in Auburn, I'm sure to see a few of both. Anyway, WELCOME!

:canada:Batmango: I had an MG too, a '49 TC that I bought used in '51. Even raced the thing until the engine blew but, after the repairs, I decided that racing was too rich for my wallet. Drove the MG a couple of years and then traded on a Riley 2.5 saloon. I've been a car nut all my life, but the 4R is the best by far and, at my 84 years of age, the last rig I'll ever own. Cheers to all, Ted
