    Actually the 285's are same price as the 275's

    285 = $302 no options available
    275 = $302 no options available
    265 = $221 but they come in different load ranges at this size. These are the ones I had previously on my FJ. However there are two other more expensive options at this size.

    Thanks for that. I see the 285 adds an inch height..... but will it rub?

    There are several discussions on that topic. Depends on if you wheel and such. If you have a pavement princess I doubt it but it might. I rubbed with 285/75/17 (34” tires). You are adding 1” in diameter with 285/70/17 but .5” in radius.

    I get you - I hop more curbs than rocks. Occasionally go in the woods for fishing, so the bigger tire size for me would be about looks to be honest.

    It will rub. Even with the extra inch the Pro offers I still had to lift it extra AND cut some bumper as well as zip-tie the mudguard back. On stock suspension any kind of turn will result in rubbing

    I believe they’ll rub without a min of 2” lift

    Finally got 285s. Now my ride doesn’t look retarded. Alignment tomorrow. BMC is looking very likely in the very near future (because I actually do play in the dirt and shit). Anybody have any recommendations for a place in southern Utah that will do a BMC?

    Lift is not needed to clear 275 or 285's.

    Below are the things you might need to do to eliminate rub. Some of these things may be needed or all of them may be needed depending on your wheel offset, wheel width, lift, and tire size.

    -fender liner mod
    -a high caster alignment
    -UCA's
    -mudflap massaging or removal
    -body mount chop

    i did neither of the above and cleared my 285s with simple 2” lift plus I got better ride quality over the factory crap stuff.

    What did that 2" lift cost you? and did you do it yourself?

    That's why I said might.

    And a simple lift does not guarantee you won't rub because tire rub from our vehicles is caused by the scrub radius increase from wider tires, wider wheels, lower offsets, and their relationship with your alignment.

    For example, if you had Pro wheels with a lower offset, you would rub. If your caster was set too low, you would rub. If it was set too high, you will rub. If your wheels were wider, you will rub. Ect.....

    This can all happen with 265 and 275's as well, btw.

    I do not run Nitrogen as I air my tires down off road. I always thought Nitrogen was a scan until I experienced it firsthand. I always swap over my aunts summer and winter tires for her. They always store them in their unheated detached garage which is subjected to constant extreme temp changes. Before they started using Nitrogen I would always have to add about 10-15psi to the tires that were sitting for 6 months. After Nitrogen they were consistently at the same PSI +1/-1 PSI variance. Year after year with the same result. There are a lot of gimmicks and scams in the world, but I do not believe this to be one.

    285/70. My wheels are -6 offset and 8.5” wide so that is driving the need for a BMC, even with 4+ degrees of caster

    What did I do today to my 5th Gen 4R? I drove it to go see a friend of mine in Poplar Bluff, Missouri (about 3 hrs each way). And on the way back, apparently the car radio had an mental breakdown and believed I was driving negative temps in Paragould, Ark. Admittedly, it was cool today, but damn! :smashpc:
