IMG_0143.jpg I just bought my 2017 4RUNNER SR5 Premium 1 week ago. The dealership had it lifted 2" in the back and 1" in the front with 35" tires. The front tires run when I turn & I have to take it back to the dealership for them to correct this issue. My main concern is "how" they're going to fix it. Should I have them lift it another inch or so? Should they offset the tires? The lift + tires added $1,200.00 onto the buying price, so there's no way that I'm going to settle for downgrading size wise on anything. I don't think they know what they're doing & they sure talk to me like I'm absolutely clueless. Any helpful suggestions and/or comments?IMG_0144.jpg

My understanding was it was a real challenge to fit 35s on a 5th gen. The dealer should have known better and they should have noticed any rubbing after they did the lift and tire install.

Tough situation for you. What dealer is it so people can steer clear of them...?

What's the metric size of the tires? I could be wrong but they do not look like 35's.

    Where are they rubbing?

    So much wrong here...

    1. It looks like they installed a 3" front and 2" rear spacer lift. You will probably need upper control arms to keep it in alignment.
    2. 35's are nearly impossible to fit on a 5th gen 4Runner without cutting fenders and more than likely the body mount (are you sure those are 35's they don't look like it?)
    3. Those TRD wheels are not recommended to run that wide of a tire.
    4. The dealer should know all of the above.

I concur, no way those are 35" tires. I would wager they are 285/70 17, so 33" tires.

The lift is most likely, as someone else mentioned, 2.5 - 3" in the front and 1.5 - 2" rear.

It *looks* to me like a basic 2.5 f / 1.5 r spacer lift but it is kind of hard to see. If that is the case than some minor rubbing at full lock left or right, especially while backing up, is normal. You can eliminate that by slightly trimming the front fender liners and the very bottom of the bumper, easy to do with a razor. If alignment is correct then most likely that is the route your dealer will take, slight unobtrusive trimming.

Edit, I see from the plates on the vehicle in the background you are in Ohio? Where at? There's a really active group of guys from Ohio on Tacomaworld.com and at least a few can fix that for you, no problem.

Definitely a 33 at best, maybe smaller. What are the numbers on the sidewall of the tire? Also to add to this, $1200 for what you got is a GREAT deal. The spacer lift is as cheap as they come, about $150 online. The wheels go for about $800, tires about the same, then add labor for install, mount, balance, alignment. You did well no matter how you look at it.

    285/70/17 = 33" tall, 11.50" wide. Toyo at's are great tires.

3 inch lift, mud tires, blacked out emblems.
What upper control arms do you recommend for a 3 inch lift?

Those are 33" tires so you should be fine size wise for the tires. The TRD rims will work fine with the 33" tires too, discount tire and some other places won't recommend it because its a bit narrow, but its fine. For UCAs the best bang for your buck would be SPC UCAs. Are you rubbing at full lock reverse? I ran 285/70/17 Duratracs and the same TRD rims and did not rub (Duratracs run as one of the larger 33"s too) The offset of those TRD rims should not be causing rubbing at reverse but if they are you can have them adjust caster forward a bit, sometimes a good alignment can do the trick. I see you are still running front mudflaps if you are just rubbing there you can remove or trim. You should not be rubbing on your Body mount with that set up so I would check the above first.

OP hasn't been active here since just after this thread was started, Sept 2017.

Still useful info for other new people, but I doubt she's receiving the responses.
