Suspension Lift issues?

Anyone ever experienced issues/problems after doing suspension lift?

Caused any damage or issues with warranty?

I have a 2016 4runner Limited with X-REAS suspension and planning to do a 3" Toytec or OME lift. I asked Toyota Service and they said we have people coming with problems after doing suspension work.

Is that exaggeration?

 

The likelihood that something will fail due to the lift, or the dealer will state due to lift, increases but 3" is not significant enough to say it will happen. Could it, yes, but very unlikely. Mind you it also depends who is installing it and what you use/abuse it for

 

I'm gonna have it done with OK4WD, they only work with SUV/trucks they're well know nationally and they guaranty their work for 6 months. They want you to go back after 500 miles to make sure everything working as it's supposed to...
Thinking either to do OME or Toytec...

I won't be over using it, mostly driving in the city(NY) we have a lot of potholes (lol) and some off roading nothing rock climbing.

Any recommendations?

 

Ive had no qualms with a toytec boss and i normally beat it pretty hard 2-3 times a month. Ive heard good things about bilsteins for the price but both are on the mid to lower end of performance, quality is decent tho. I have no experience nor personally know anybody using OME. If I were you I would choose the bilsteins or toytec

 

Never heard issues caused by lifts. The dealer said that because they blame anything on a lift so they can make you pay. Dealers will blame a out tailight on a lift.

 

By law a dealer can only refuse warranty work if they can prove the lift components caused the failure. Keep it under 3", buy quality parts, have them installed by a reputable shop (if you can't do it yourself) and you are golden.

a 3" lift will not do any damage to your 4runner i have had 3" on mine for 2 years the only thing i have had to replace is lower ball joints and that only takes 20 min per side.i say go for it but! don't go with 33s tires mine rubbed and wore out fast they are simply too big hard on the suspension ie ball joints control arms and really lost a lot of horsepower. I just did bilsteins 5100 front and back with ome hd springs that are for 880 #s constant load and hate the ride way to stiff gonna order their medium springs hoping that will improve the ride. ? Or that's just how it is with the 5100s?

 

It's the springs not the shocks that are creating the stiff ride. OME is known to ride stiffer than most...especially since you installed the HD springs.

 

Not, not how it is. My 4Runner rides really really good with 5100's. I put on OME 884's front w/ Bilstien Adjustable 5100s and Toytec 2" rear coils with 5100's.

I probably should have done 885's up front, however, as the extra 1/2" of lift would have reduced my rake just a hair. However, this thing rides great as is.

Avoid the OME 886's, which I suspect is what you have. They are rated for a HEAVY load (full bumper, big winch) and will ride horrible without that extra weight up front.

 

I have a 2015 LE and I removed the xreas system for a 3" ome lift all the way around. Did the install myself. ~2k miles on it post install. No issues to report.

 

Accidentally ordered ome back springs 899s and will be switching to ome 889 their medium which I'm hoping will make a difference. Front ones will be good I'm hoping as I plan on getting a bumper.
