Anyone find a way to reduce the wind noise? I have in-channel window deflectors but that doesn’t seem to be the cause. I was wondering if anyone added extra weather stripping or something to reduce the noise. Just curious to see what people have done besides turn up the radio.

I have in-channel window deflectors /vent visors (whatever you call them) and I definitely noticed an increase in wind noise after the install. Besides the fact that aerodynamically, the 4R is a brick, those are likely the source of your wind noise.

When I first got mine, if I recall correctly I was actually impressed at the lack of wind noise. Like I said, I def notice a difference with the vent visors in.

The best simple thing you can do is close the sunshade on the sunroof and add dynamat/sound deadening to the doors and foot wells.

I'm pretty tall so the seat is back. If I open the drivers window I have quite a lot of turbulence in my left ear. If I also open the drivers side back window along with the front window it goes away.

I added one of those deflectors to my driver's side window only because I didn't like getting wind in my face if I opened the window driving down the road. It helps that issue about 50%, but there is also a whistling noise to it. I've never before had a vehicle that blasts wind in my face if the window is open.

Your wind deflectors are making the noise.

I don’t understand why people still install them in 2021.

Just my .02. I have the window rain guards, i have taken them off and on. Installed the extra weather strip/hose deal and added sound deading. It's the thin glass. Granted it's subjective per individual. Turning the radio up makes it less noticeable, as does more aggressive tires.

My tire noise hides the wind noise. Even more so now with my mud terrains.

I haven't really noticed any extraordinary noise either before or after I installed these little guys: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B19SEVG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8
Pretty quiet car all in all which is why I chose to go with the Michelin Defenders - yeah I know, I'll not like that choice when I'm off-road but 99% of my driving is on the highway (sad to say..).

I used the window defectors for about a week and ripped them off. Truck is much quieter without them.

Like everyone else said it’s the deflectors. Had them on my Tundra and they were the noise problem as well. Reason I’m only adding the hood deflector and not the window ones

I always thought that window deflectors were so people could smoke in their cars while it was raining and not worry about getting water inside.

I just slapped on some in-channel WTs last week... I was concerned about an increase in wind noise but I really don't notice a difference at all!

I don't know if it's your window deflectors or not, but I've had my WeatherTechs in for a few weeks now, and even after a (reasonably) high-speed drive today (approx. 80 mph in 10-15 min. stretches) no noticeable wind noise. Although the stupid Pro exhaust (which I'm seriously debating getting rid of) might be drowning out any wind noise lol.

I’ve got the WeatherTech In-Channel window vents on my 2021 OR and I am getting a little wind noise from the drivers vent. It is only noticeable when the driver front window is the only window open. If I slightly open the driver side rear window or the other windows, the wind noise goes away.

I happen to like the window vents as it lets me crack open the windows for fresh air on rainy days. I’ve had them on several of my recent rides and have only had wind noise on the 4Runner. Still, I’ll put up with it because I enjoy the functionality……

I just bought a WeatherTech 4-piece set for my 2019 4Runner Limited. I had them, second hand, on a 2019 Tundra; I liked them and had them in and out and back in without issue. I would like for them to work on this vehicle.

But, luckily, I didn't peel the tape off of the back two because I am thinking of sending them back. On the fronts, I have a driver's side window that won't go all the way up - not stuck open too far but far enough to be a problem - no matter how much and how many times I adjusted it. On the passenger's side, my auto window won't go up and comes back down - still the same after 10+ up-and-down cycles.

    Can anyone help, please?

We just had the first real rain since I got my 4Runner. As one who frequently brings the dog along, when I stop for coffee or a sandwich I like to leave the windows cracked all around. Needless to say there was a lot of water on the seats and doors - enough to make me worry about the window switches, and yearn for the days when drip rails were standard fare.

    Hmmm.

I have the Weather Techs on my ‘22 as I like the look, and keep them cracked on hot days. With radio off and my wife not talking, I can just make them over 80 kph an hour. But honestly, I’ve always got the radio on so never find it intrusive. More noise from Toyo A/T3s on concrete hwy at 110 kph.

The 4Runners I’ve test driven and rented have low wind/road noise to me. With that said I’m currently in a Subaru Forester and that feels like I’m driving with the windows down (but they aren’t down or even cracked. I check every time I m driving because they sure sound like they’re down)

I installed the AVS in channel version about two weeks ago....100% added more wind noise. I might rip them out this weekend its that annoying to me. Same with that stupid plastic glovebox organizer...rattling hard plastic on plastic might be the most dumb purchase I made last year.

Why not just trade your exhaust with the OP so he will no longer hear his wind noise and your rig will be quiet again? :bananadance:
