Why does exist? Are people on both?

Are they owned by the same people?
Which one should I be on?

Not sure why. I was on both when I had my 4runner. Now just this one mostly. I am also on tundra and Tacoma. Like to keep up on things happening.

LOL, you must be busy toggling through all the forums. Careful not to get them mixed up, lol!

There are numerous 4Runner forums out there if you really search. Some have a good following like here and some have gone way of the dinosaur. I was a member of Yotatech back in the early 2000's. That was the place to be back then, now not so much. I stick to this one now as it is generally family friendly and people are really helpful.

I am on tacomaworld, 4runners and 4runnersORG haha. There is a lot of cross over but in my opinion, 4runnerORG has more technical writeups than here but is not as friendly. I like this platform WAY better. my 2cents

This one has the best members. :p

I have found useful information on the others, occasionally.

I'm a TW member as well. I joined during my short lived Tacoma ownership. Lots of really good information on that forum, and I've met some really great people there, as well!

Exactly... I have crashed MANY TW meetups locally. My neighbor/drinking buddy got me on there when he had his Taco then roped a few other neighbors into the Tacoma game so there are 5 of us within a couple miles with runners or Tacomas and I work on all of them. Like we eluded to, TW and 4runners is more "community" I feel.

Yes! The Wisconsin Tacomas crew is very friendly and active. So far, I've been very lucky for meeting up with random people from the internet. :D

We're doing a snow run in a few weeks after I leave this beautiful sunny state.

This one is much better to navigate. I frequent TW the most for deals and classifieds.
    Don’t own a 4Runner or Taco anymore.

Lots of topics have multiple forums. I was on TW when I had a taco but it’s not the only Toyota truck group. Same thing when I had Hondas and Acuras in past.

And I am on forums for other hobbies I have where sometime there are 3, 4, 5 forums for the same topic, all run by different people. Sometimes it starts as one forum but the mods get in a fight and one leaves to start a competing forum. Not to mention Facebook groups and Reddit sections.

i still lurk on TW since T4Rs share a lot of the stuff.

You should see how many Nissan forums there are, lol. When I was a Nissan fanboy, there were like 5 just for the Frontier alone some very specific, then the Titan and Pathfinder were pretty much dead. Maxima was pretty hoppin with like ones just for 6th gen Maxima SE with 6spd with tan interior (exaggerating, of course).

I started on the other one maybe 4 years ago, and it was fine for a while. Tried this one, and it's more active from an operational standpoint, as if the owners/moderators are actually interested in what goes on here.

The other one got very stale, the format can be silly (click too fast and you get the 15-second timeout message? Really?), not as intuitive to navigate, and it just seems to 'be there', not really very engaging. People more inclined to pick fights there, too. That happens here, but not as much. And the other one is increasingly clustered with ads.

Be cool. Be on them all! And every local, state and int'l Facebook group there is! Don't forget about the IG people. If you do it right, there are so many you can become the CNN of 4Runners. 24/7 coverage.

I occasionally try to go on the other big forum, but I get so many of those video adds that it takes me too much effort to even bother.

This one does have a very friendly vibe to it compared to a lot of other forums, that and the fact that the toyota-4runner forum takes WAY too long to load in on my computer made this one an easy choice. I've been on TW for 10 years, but I spend more time here than I do there these days.

I'm on both. I originally registered on the first one when I was looking for a third gen, I don't even remember how I found this one. I was on the original one more, but the damn thing insists on logging me out every time I leave, and the pop-ups kill me. So I spend most of my time here and only check the other one when I want certain technical information.

I'm a member of both. I was on this forum exclusively for about a year before I got an account on the other forum. I would of done it much sooner had they not had probationary period where new accounts could only comment.

I don't go on this forum as much anymore, 5th gens consist of most activity on this forum. The 3rd gen section isn't as busy here, and older generations forums are essentially dead. 4runnerorg has a really active 3rd gen, but as it is here anything older is basically inactive (those generations are just old now). When I bought my 4runner I had a rush of things I immediately wanted to do, so rather than flood one forum with posts I split it between this forum and the other one. Now that it's been over 2 years, the mods that are left are large and have huge periods of time when I'm waiting to get the money or something to break. Probably why I go on both the forums less now than I use to.

4runnerorg has more useful information, and it goes back 20 years so a lot of historical resources too. I've done extensive writeups for 4runnerorg, but I never post them here. Also there are more eyes if you have a problem on an older generation, so it's hands down better if you want maximum feedback. The UI on this forum is way better however. I love how the images show up before I even post it on this forum, on the other forum it shows the URL until you post it.

There is more banter here, so I still hang around. Also, maybe it's because build threads have their own section on this forum, but the other forum has way more build threads. Both forums have members I respect. I don't see myself ever becoming dormant on either unless my 4runner goes away for some reason (or I get a job that completely takes over my life)

If you guys want to see some real old 4runner stuff from a bygone era give this a look. A lot of the photos dont work and the websites are gone, but many still function well enough to navigate through and see what sort of mods people did 15+ years ago.
