New to me '15 SR5. Came with Michelin wipers on it. Not a fan. Old 4Runner had them and they usually lasted about 6 months. Heard good things about the original factory wipers and how long they last. Sent email to my local dealer for pricing on left - 85222-52180 and right - 85212-53081. Reply was "WE DO NOT CARRY THOSE BUT WE HAVE OTHER TOYOTA OEM WIPERS." A Toyota dealer that does not carry Toyota brand factory wipers?

In my experience OEM quality can vary widely. So should I insist on Genuine Toyota or is there a decent quality OEM available?

I have easily ordered OEM online and had them shipped to my local dealer.

I'm running the Michelins from and they don't seem to last but they're cheap. I picked up a set of scrubbable blades to give them a try.

I don't know about the part numbers but I just walk in to Toyota dealer as ask for "Wiper rubber inserts for *2015 Toyota 4Runner". They are about 10 or 11 bucks.

That’s good news if you can get just inserts from dealership. I thought they went to whole assembly.

I tried Michelin blades on my FJ40 Land Cruiser, and they didn't make the grade. Failed on a long trip - miles deep into a trail in a national forest in the rain. They were less than a year old and never subjected to super-hot, or super-cold conditions. Luckily, I always have spares in the Land Cruiser. But wasn't real happy to change wiper blade in the rain. I'll never run those on any of our vehicles again. Despite the Michelin name, they were cheap to buy and we got exactly what we paid for.

Our 4Runners are our daily drivers, no way I'd go with anything other than Toyota factory OEM. We run OEM wipers on our Venture and the Limited both. That's what I'd recommend. If your dealer can't get them follow this link:

You do need the OEM ones to use the inserts because the refills are unique to them. I just did my first insert replacement on my 2021 and thought it wouldn't work as good. I was wrong. Its like a brand new wiper again.

Perfect, thanks, yes my wiper assemblies are stock OEM along with the rest of the car.

I’ve been using Bosch ICON winter blades on all my vehicles for several years. They run $20-$25 each but are durable & repel snow/ice buildup well. I replace them annually just prior to the start of every Northern Michigan winter & they keep me happy & my windshield streak-free. Overkill for desert dwellers but required equipment for northern latitudes. YMMV.

Most Toyota dealers stock two different "OEM" wiper blades: the true original wipers that come from Japan and Toyota branded wipers sourced from Sightline. Only the original wipers from Japan can accept the inserts. You can identify the Sightline version by the Toyota symbol on the plastic clip that connects to the wiper arm. The original wipers do not have the Toyota marking.
I actually just replaced my wipers with the original Toyota wiper blades because I purchased my 4Runner used and the previous owner had installed the Sightline wipers. I have the part numbers written at home and can follow up later today or this weekend when I remember. My total cost was over $50 including shipping from a non-local Toyota dealership but the part numbers included the inserts.

I run the same. One of the first things I swapped out. The OEM ones do work, but never as good as the Bosch did. I’ve been running them since an M3 I bought had them on it. Won’t run anything else.

I really do like the beam style wiper for winter weather, either bosch, or any other brand. Easy to crack the ice off them after a snow fall, and the give a nice even swipe.

I like the simple look of the factory OE wipers, however.

We are having storms here in California. Bad by our standards. Night and day difference driving an explorer with factory blades vs the Bosch. To be fair, it’s not quite apples to apples, but driving home from work was a lot better than working. It got scary at times.

I do agree with you 100%. The Bosch are pretty bulky looking. Need to see if they make a bosh style blade for the rear. I have a new insert on the rear and it’s not all that great.

Here are the part numbers for the OEM wiper blades that came from factory (with replaceable inserts):

    Right: 85212-53081
    Left: 85222-52180

I paid $52.82 shipped from Gateway Toyota just last month.[/QUOTE]

I run the beam style RainX wipers, they've been great. I won't run anything other than beams.

I just picked up a set of Rain X Silicone based on a Car and Driver test that ranked them best. Have yet to put them on though... My OEMs continue to be ok after 2.5 years and 21K miles. A small bit of patchiness in the sweep, but not bad. I just wanted something good before it snows. If that will ever happen this year lol... Been a pretty mild winter so far...

Speaking of which, still have had no need for the 3-peak tires I got specifically to be able to handle some snow without constant sliding as I got with my OEM Duelers (worst tire in snow ever!)

I almost thought this is just for the rubber inserts. But looks like you purchased with the frame/ metal part.

Just for the rubber inserts i paid 22 bucks. So for 4 inserts for both my 4runners I paid about 45 bucks.

Sorry for the dumb question but does the 4Runner have a J Hook wiper arm or something else? What about in the rear?

Interesting Thread. I'm 72. It seems that I recall that every NEW vehicle I purchased, that the wiper blades that came with it tended to wipe better, and last longer. And the old after-market Anco and Trico blades wouldn't last more than 6 months. One good freeze and they would streak.

My 21' 4R, now after 1 1/2 years still have the original OEM blades, and still wipe clear without streaking or noise. Full disclosure: Since I retired one year ago, the 4R spends most of it's time in the garage, which probably makes a big difference. But still, we had two big snows last year and one this year, and they still work good. Amazing. I guess some blades just have better quality rubber/silicone than others. Thus, the price difference.

I agree with this. I always buy the inserts and they work flawlessly. I usually change them out every spring, right after the winter beats them up.

The windshield wipers are J-arm type. Not sure about the rear window as I’ve never changed it, but I would bet it’s the same.

Put Michelins in my '15 SR 5.
    Never again.

From day one the chattered in a drizzle and left a 2 inch wide streek directly in my line of sight.

I'd do better standin up in the open moon roof and wipin the windshield with a greasy rag...

What is the OEM wiper blade parts number, drivers and passenger, 2019. I did the inserts last time, and they are already not working well, about a year. I bought them at Toyota dealership..

I got 3 years out of a pair of Scrubblades. Kind of expensive but they work well and I do silicone spray them occasionally to keep them pliable since I don't have a garage.

I have been very happy with these..I leave them on all year. Long lasting no streaks or “chatter”. Real nice if you have winter weather in your neck of the woods. Also see a huge difference using the orange color RAIN X fluid. At highway speed I rarely need my wipers, as rain peels off windshield while moving2200E249-479C-4F42-AC62-9B97A8CC58DF.jpg

Interested in checking these out! We get a good amount of rain and snow and have been trying to find a good set of blades that hold up.

I've been pleasantly surprised by them......especially as an Amazon purchase.

I've tried the silicone style on my wife's car and was not impressed.

I think there's something to these neoprene infused ones.
