Since this is the longest running generation of the 4Runner, I was curious to know how long other owners have owned their 4Runner. I've had my 2015 SR5P since new so 7 years so far. I plan to keep it forever! Who's owned one the longest?

I had my 2010 SR5 for 11 years, it never had any serious issues, and I planed to keep it at least 5 more years. But unfortunately if was T-boned last year, air bag went off and insurance totaled it. They paid me half of what I paid 11 years ago and now I plan to keep my new 2022 TRD Offroad for as long as I can.

Screensho1.jpg 2020 SR5 base model. I bought it in April 2020 during the covid 19 pandemic. I had to make an appointment just to enter the dealership and everyone was masked, there was no vaccine yet , people were scared, staying home hiding in their basements, and no one was out buying cars. I had my pick of 4 runners on the lot and I chose the cheapest one they had with an MSRP of $39,995. Since they had a hard time selling any cars at the time, they knocked $3k off the price and i left with a new 4 runner for $36k. I know it pains some of you to hear this, but now is not the time to buy a 4runner. In another year, there be a new model (that you may or may not like), then you can buy a slightly used 2023 for normal prices, like back before Corona.:D

Feb 7 will make 4 years. It had 79k when I bought it, it's now about to hit 147K.

I typically keep vehicles for a long time, I've had my 07 Volvo for 10 years, my 97 Grand Cherokee before that for 12 years. Not sure how long I'll hold on to the 4R, part of my brain is telling me to sell it while it's still worth something. I've been seeing a lot of frame rot posts in various groups and it makes me question the wisdom of keeping a BOF Toyota long term here in the Northeast.

Originally I was planning on keeping it at least ten years, which would be at least 300k miles. I've taken steps to mitigate corrosion, but the thing was 6 years old when I bought it, the damage had probably already been done.

Just picked up a SR5 4x4 with 40k miles for 31,495 plus tax tag fees and extended warrenty till 100k, didn't relize how responsible an extended warrenty was on a certified Toyota 1,100 Bumper to bumper 0 deductible.

Thats really a good price for a 2021 considering . I got an offer from $32K (toyota dealer)up to $39,500(carmax). I was tempted, but glad I chose to keep mine. In a few years,I know I will still have good value for trade in if I ever decide to sell. 4runners hold their re sale value better than most used vehicles

Which one? My wife drives our 99 LE with about 400k on the clock. Mostly stock but for 275/65 17 KO2s and rock sliders.

I drive a 2015 LE and have about 164k. It’s “slightly modified” and is our main adventure wagon.

The plan is to drive it into the dirt :D

For people who bought their 4R pre pandemic, I would love to hear what everyone paid since SR5 Premiums are going for north of $50K.

Jan 2020, bought my 2017 SR5P 4WD with 61k for $29,000. The day before I bought it, I had just missed out on a black 2016 Pro with same mileage for $33,000

Purchased my TRD/ORP/MR new in mid-March 2021 (6-miles) for $42,800. Took delivery in May. So now, about 17 months it just turned 16,000 miles. Received about a $1,200.00 discount from MSRP that March. Think I made it at the 11th hour, just before the crazy pricing started. So far, not a single issue.

Traded in my 2010 FJ Cruiser which I bought new and owned 11 years and 161,000 miles. Received more than 50% of what I paid new for it.

I traded in my 2010 Ford explorer which I bought new and owned for 11 years and 157,000 miles . Received less that 10% of what i paid new for it!
Made me appreciate the trade in value of the toyota 4x4's. I should have bought an FJ like you did!

I bought my 2016 Trail Edition Premium new and owned it for 4 years.

I sold it and bought a 2020 Tundra new and drove it for 3 years.

I sold that and bought a 2023 Limited 2 weeks ago.

I’ll probably never go back to a truck as my primary vehicle, not saying I won’t buy an older one to use though.

    Does concurrent ownership count?
Purchased a new 2016 limited in August of 2016. Traded it in with 108k miles in February of 2020 for a new 2020 AG Pro that currently has about 37k miles on it. New 2023 Pro will be here in the next few weeks. These 4Runners are amazing with the exception of fuel consumption.

Purchased January of 2015. 2012 LE w 58k miles for just over $25k. Paid it off in 2 years and have driven this thing all over the country, especially during the last couple years of BS. NBC let me drive to my gigs instead of flying. She's never missed a beat. Now 8 yrs later it has almost a 1000 lbs of mods and 150k miles. Planning on a lot more. She used to be so pretty.
