From Colorado

Hello Bob, and everyone. Thank you for your welcome. My name is Kent and I am in the process of switching from a Lexus GX (fancy 4Runner) to a real 4Runner TRD Pro. I am retired and work as a volunteer for the U.S. Forest Service. So, as you can imagine, my travels often take me way back in the mountains at times. We are right next to the west side Rocky Mountain National Park.

I've already learned that, if I want a TRD Pro, I'm going to have to pay 'The Price'.
At least the dealers are not asking more than MSRP for them.

I'm looking forward to the new vehicle, and I also look forward to hearing how all of you use you 4Runners.

Hi Bob, No pictures yet as I haven't gotten the TRD Pro yet. There are a few TRD Pros available at dealers in Colorado. I'm finding that prices on them vary between 43,800 to 50k. Whew, that's quite a spread for the same thing.

The Lexus GX that I have is a very capable off-road vehicle. However, it doesn't have quite the ground-clearance that the 4Runner does, and, (most of all) I worry a lot more about damaging the vehicle when I'm off-roading. Another thing about the Lexus is that it is very difficult to do any mods on. I'm really not that interested in modifying a/the vehicle, however, I would have liked to put a 2 or 3 inch lift on that. But, lifting a Lexus GX is a MAJOR project because the suspension is so sophisticated. A 4Runner would give me a lot more flexibility if/when I do want to do any modifications. Since the 4Runner already has more ground clearance, I doubt if I'd be raising it any time in the near future. I do pull an atv trailer occasionally, and it would be great to hear feedback from some of you guys regarding 'towing capabilities' of the 4Runner.

Hi Bob, welcome aboard. The prices seem a bit high as we only paid $47,800 Cdn, about $33,500 US, for our '16 Trail complete with Duratracs. So far we've only used it for highway driving due to a bad winter, but we're looking forward to exploring many forest trails this summer. We do love it though, after trading in a '15 Wrangler 4 door. The 4R is so much better it still amazes me! - Ted
