I'd look at Nokian. The Hakkapliittas are some of the best winter tires made.

Well I'm not looking to spend alot of money on winter tires, I agree with you the Nokians are great tires I had them on my avalon , but for the 4runner I'm aiming to save the all season tires thats basically why

If I were trying to save a few bucks, I'd look at the Yokohama Iceguard. No personal experience with them, but I've had great luck with Yokohama overall.

Lots of reviews out there for winter tires but I have spent many winters in northern Vermont in 2WD Volvos and with four Nokian Hakkaplittas I never got stuck or lost control. They are amazing. Highly recommended.

Just curious, is winter rated all terrain tires not good enough for snow belt regions?

Just asking since people may like to winter wheel and winter tires are not strong enough for the trails.

Anyways here in CO I can't run winter tires since many days here in winter goes over 45F.

I run 3PMSF AT's because I live near the city. But, if I were in an area where the snow was left to pack down I would prefer to run snow tires.

We get warm spells in Wisconsin, but I think it's fine as long as you don't run snow tires year round.

A 2012 Scion TC. It's a beast in the snow with them on! I'm supposed to be using it to save fuel VS driving the 4Runner all the time. But, it needs a clutch, and don't have any time to do it, so it's a big paperweight right now.

I had Firestone Winterforce tires on my last Tacoma and they were awesome. The new version looks less aggressive, so I don't how that changes things. On my 4R I have a set of Duratracs 255/75 on steelies for the winter and they are pretty great. The best part is that if I leave them on way past winter it is not an issue burning them up like you would a dedicated snow tire.

Same. But once I settle down up nort', I'm sure I'll find a reason to buy a set of Wannahockaloogees.

I’m in Alberta Canada and I am running on Goodyear wrangler duratracs they have the mountain snow flake rating for winter/snow. So far no issues and I can run it all year. I have also run FALKEN AT3 all year on my Tacoma and they were good as well.

Anyone using cooper discoverer at3 4s for offroad use and also in winter? Seems to be very light weight yet seems to have same diameter as other common brands. (And yes not 33in like GY WR Duratracs but normal for the size imo)

    Stock Nittos -

If anyone thinking how much offroad I need? I would say something like this. We have rocks like this normally here in CO but not crazy sharp as seem on this screen capture from TFL in CO.
