Thinking about Cbi front and rear bumpers. New at this, but I want the best at the same time don’t want to spend a small fortune.
Second if I go with steel do y’all think the Fox Suspension on my 2020 TRD pro will be enough for the extra weight

I have the covert CBI bumper on my wife’s 4runner. If I did it again I wouldn’t of bought it and gone with another brand.F71FAFF6-D87C-45A4-A5AA-C7077E96A969.jpg

Oh no for real? What did you not like about the covert bumper, and what other brand would you have went with instead.

I think the SSO fits horribly up near the grill. That gap and having to use edge guard drives me insane.

I thought the CBI looked better in that aspect.

I have a Slimline bumper from Southern Style Off-road without the huge gap.

Is the gap from the bumper being pushed in from an impact, or maybe trimming off too much during the installation??

not sure about the gap. The pic below doesnt appear to have an impact bit it looks pretty similar.

Do you have more pics off your SSO from the top and side?

    Thanks!

I'm happy with the fitment of my Victory Blitz bumper. You are never going to get a really tight fitment without a lot of measurements and guessing before cutting. Mine currently looks like shit because powdercoat doesn't stick well to aluminum. Luckily they were great to work with and refunded the PC charge. If I had to do it again I'd get it raw and rattle can some bedliner (will be doing this when I paint the raw aluminum skids that just came in) or have it rhino lined.

looks good. I have the TSS sensor to deal with, so my winch bumper choices arent many.

Yeah, I didn't have to worry about that. There are some that work with it, and I think there is also (an expensive) relocation bracket to help. Honestly, you can order most lo-pro bumpers without the hoop and that would fix the problem. Unless I hit a deer I'm not sure how much it would help anyway and even then, may just save the radiator. I think hood and plastic would be donezo either way

i definitely want one with a hoop. Right now SSO’s are $760 (hard to beat) while CBI’s are $960. Tough decision but I find myself coming back to the CBI’s. I’ll probably bite the bullet and order a CBI.:annoyed:

cbi has horrible customer service, like their straight up assholes. Had a problem with the product I ordered and they did next to nothing to remedy the problem they created.

I wanted the CBI skids as well because of the wider front coverage. I ended up ordering RCI because so many people here liked them and shipping was cheaper. They delivered but I haven't installed yet - customer service is super responsive (end of day or next day reply).

Another +1 for Victory. Customer service is over the top great and I love the product - I only had PC issues on aluminum but that's a science issue (PC relies on static electricity for powder to stick and aluminum isn't very conductive). Very happy with the bumper

I’d go with RCI for your skids. I have everything rci on my Tacoma and 4runner. Skids, sliders and roof rack and they’ve held up well and their customer service is too knotch. They also have a sale going right now.

I do already have their sliders installed in addition to the skids sitting in the garage - just delivered this week. Very happy with the sliders and expect to be happy with the skids as soon as I pull them out, paint them, and get them installed.

Rago CB antenna mount, Rago dashboard shelf, 2m/70cm Ham radio install
I've heard some complaints as well about CBI. On the other hand, I've heard great things about Rago Fabrication. I just purchased a dashboard shelf from them, for my ham radio and audio switch. I also purchased a CB antenna mount that was designed especially for 5th gen 4Rs. US company and veteran owned. Here's a pic of the shelf with a Kenwood ham radio mounted. Mine will be the Icom IC-2730A.

Well boys and girls, got the new SSO Slimline bumper on. I am so glad I did not follow the template from them because they were way off. I lefta lot of extra plastic so I could trim little by little to get the clearance I needed.

I think it’s a good rule to follow… you can always trim more if needed, but you can’t add it back on if you trim too much…

so true. If I followed their template it would have been 1”+ too short and left a big gap over the topside of the bumper. Right now i think I have a 1/4” gap.
