Hello everyone! New kid on the block here. I've been a silent follower here in the forum for some time now. I finally have a question to ask! Can someone please post a picture of what a standard OEM trailer plug and mounting bracket look like underneath? I was involved in a rear end accident, and am not sure if mine was damaged during the impact. The insurance company claims administrator does not believe the bracket and plug were affected by the collision. To me, it looks like it's "crooked" and not in the right place, but I don't know for certain what it actually looked like pre-accident. Maybe someone can comment on my pics and advise? I greatly appreciate your expertise and opinion! 005 IMG-2182 Point of Impact.jpg 008 IMG-2184 Trailer Plug.jpg 009 IMG-2185 Trailer Plug.jpg 010 IMG-2181 Trailer Plug Wiring Harness.jpg 011 IMG-2186 Trailer Plug Wiring Harness.jpg 005 IMG-2182 Point of Impact.jpg 008 IMG-2184 Trailer Plug.jpg 009 IMG-2185 Trailer Plug.jpg 010 IMG-2181 Trailer Plug Wiring Harness.jpg 011 IMG-2186 Trailer Plug Wiring Harness.jpg

Looks fine to me. That bracket does not sit completely vertical. Also, there is zero metal fatigue that would be pretty apparent with the amount of dirt and corrosion on that bracket. I think you are good. The spare tire is sitting square as well.

Yeah i would consider getting some fluid film or similar on your frame though bud to slow down that corrosion

Hello everyone, thank you for your replies. I really appreciate it! I guess this means I need to take back what I said about the claims adjuster to my insurance agent - I said he was an idiot! . Oooops. Regarding the corrosion on the frame - that has bothered me for quite some time. I don’t know what to do! What is fluid film and what should I do to address it? I want to keep the car long term, drive it into the ground before I get a new one. Is there anything I can do myself, and or do I need to have a pro work on it? How much of an expense are we talking about? (Maybe I should post this in another category?).

Wouldn't hurt to start your own 4R thread, detailing what you have and post all your questions there. That way you can keep track of all the things you need and/or learn. Either that, or keep posting in the appropriate threads, and keeping a 'watched thread' list going.

    BTW, welcome to the forum.
