Anyone running RokBlokz mud flaps?

I’m looking for a way to reduce the damage from rocks / gravel my KO2’s kick up. Found these: https://rokblokz.com/products/toyota-4runner-mud-flaps-2011-2018

Pricey but if they’ll save my paint it’d be worth it.

Anybody tried them, or any other brands, that offer more protection than OEM?

I had them on my Tacoma and on my Stinger. They're pretty great.

 

Also had them on a 2nd gen Tacoma. Replaced the floppy stock flaps that come with the Tacoma. Super happy with the durability and fit.

 

I wold be interested in these as well. Any members have pics of them on their 4R's?

 

I’ve got them on mine, love them over the stock ones. I went with the regular size not the XL since I’m still on the stock wheels. sorry the pictures aren’t the greatest. Almost 3 years on my truck and no fading or issues with them at all. Install was simple too

I’m also trying to decide on what size. It appears that even their “regular” size offers more protection than OEM, is that true? My tires are stock size.

Sounds like you didn’t have any problems with them on the trail. One of the reviews on their website said they were too stiff and caused body damage when off-roading, but that may have been an extreme situation.

 

I have them on mine. I'm happy with the fit, and they're holding up well. I don't have any good pictures, unfortunately.

 

they do stick out slightly further then stock. To me they feel more flexible then the stock ones as well so personally I’d worry less about these while off road. Found a few of my day 1 pics of them I’ll add to this reply. Honestly I like them so much I’ll be buying them again to match the teal dobinson coils I am waiting on better then the red will.

 

I got a set on my 2017 taco, had them for 4 years. I wanted to get a set for our 2018 limited runner when we had it, but couldn’t verify they fit the limited.

 

I always tell people that you can roughly approximate how effective any mud flap will be with a simple yard stick. Place the (flat) yard stick under the rear of either the front or rear tire. The stick represents the theoretical path of a stone. Now, by raising or lowering the stick, see how far - particularly the front - mud flap has to extend downward to be effective. You'll scare yourself. Generally speaking, you can easily mount rear mud flaps to totally prevent stone chips. The front is another story. To be truly effective, the fronts have to be so low that they'll catch on everything when you back up. On the other hand, you'll quickly see that the OEM mud flaps are totally useless.

As for me, I gave up on front mud flaps, but have zero stone chips on my 2014 Tacoma TRD Sport and my 2021 SR5 Premium T4R. How did I do that? As much as I dislike the looks, running boards do a wonderful job.

 

I took some pictures of the rear for reference. I had to remove the fronts after my tires partially removed one for me.


This is with 285/70/17's on -6mm offset wheels.

 

Yeah that’s the decision I’m facing. I’m considering Victory rock sliders (like the looks and functionality) but they’re pretty spendy, esp. with shipping - hence this discussion. I’ve already had xpel applied to the fender flares up to the top but I’m wondering if it’s enough.

Although I have 'wheeled with several of my past Toyotas, my Tacoma was 2wd and never saw the trail. I ripped a mudflap off a previous Toyota while on a trail run; if I had these at the time it either would have been a non-event or a lot of damage. Definitely a consideration. Good luck with your decision.

 

Interested in these but curious if anyone has/can get pics of the areas I circled. Do these flaps have the bends like oem(I want to assume they don't) or are they just flat.

 

Before going mudflap commando you should check your state’s DMV laws. At least 11 states require them on passenger cars.

 

It's been a while since I looked closely at yours. Did you need to alter them at all to accommodate your BMC?

 

No offense, but those literally looks like my wife's cutting boards, lol. I do like them but I much rather get them in black.

 

Isn't this too big for off-roading .. Just curious.
No mud-guard recommended on the TRD Sports for some reasons

 

Mudguards can help keep corrosion down if you do a lot of gravel roads. The grit and stoned eat away at the paint on any areas under the body that arent protected by mudguards. Bare metal and winter salt will make quick work of things. Even with the factory mudguards, a few long trips with gravel roads was enough to compromise the powder coat on my sliders.

Also, even though the side body panels themselves are fairly well protected with the factory applied film near the rockers, all bets are off once you have oversized tires/wheels that stick past your wheel wells. This might not be a big deal for low mileage vehicles on the street, but gravel and high mileage will eat stuff up if you’re not on top of it.

The challenge is finding a compromise between road/gravel protection, and not having mudflap tear off during more “flexy” off-roading situations.

 

I just wish these were easier to find

 

The sport is the same as the limited, not every one has stuff for them. I tried finding good mudflaps for the limited we had and couldn’t find anything.

I ran those on my 14 with no issues. I now have a Limited and was surprised to find that the entire rear bumper cavity is a hollow shell with just the spare to see when those flaps and the mud guard are off. Hoping those Limited RokBlocks work better than a mud flap delete I picked up. Fingers crossed but RokBlocks recommended!

Ditto. Wondering if these mount with a flatter profile as opposed to OEM. I haver slight rub on bumpy portion the front of mine with 285's and -10 wheels. Want to keep mud flaps on.

 

Yes, they do. These were taken from the rear, left wheel.
