What do you recommend for sliders for a 5th Gen? I know I for sure need them - but I have no idea where to start with picking some out. What sold you on the sliders you have?

I bought some All pro sliders, and they were easy to bolt on. Easy to paint, and I've used them...they held up well.

If you prefer a less inclined look, check out Shrockworks, those guys are out of Houston, so you could save money on shipping by picking them up.

Also, check out Southern Style Offroad. I met them at Jambo and their sliders are really nice looking. I have a Hybrid bumper on order from them.

@brochacho thanks! I'll check it out.

@fajitas21 I talked to them too - cool peeps! Chugged my first ever energy drink with them. haha. I did like the look of them - but I tend to look at things from that female/aesthetically pleasing perspective instead of what is most useful or logical.

I really like the All Pro sliders, however I was recently introduced to a guy nearer where I live in Ontario, Canada who I plan on purchasing through at https://www.core-canada.com/ . Talked with him briefly and he was easy to deal with and I've had more than a handful of local guys mention him and his work.

    For those Canadians out there!

1st thing you should do is figure out how much $ you want to spend.

@Slowrunner none :( But I gotta get over that. haha. My cheap side wants to find some used ones and go with that to save money. But my girly side wants pretty ones that cost a lot. :p

I think $500 is a reasonalble expectation if you watch for group buys and discounts from vendors. Otherwise, closer to $650 with shipping. That's bare metal, but I recommend not paying $200 for powdercoat because they will be scratched up anyways.

I just received some sliders that I had ordered from Schrockworks. Took about 8 weeks to get them. I am installing tonight and will post some pics when I get them on.

@OvrlandNoob I was considering Schrockworks simply because they are local and I can save on the shipping. I haven't made a final decision yet...lmk what you think of them!

Personally I think Shrockworks make a good looking slider and the cost is very competitive. Local pickup saves $100 in shipping, but you'll pay tax since it's in state, so it kinda washes out. The standard "angle" is about 20 degrees, which is what you saw on most people's trucks. You can get the sliders with the dimple fill plates that look like side steps, but are real sliders, and those are about 5 degrees angle up.

I was very much on the fence on the 4Runner what I wanted, but to save weight I went without the fill plates. In the end, they aren't that hard to bolt on, if you have an extra person to help lift, they took only about 30 - 45 minutes to bolt in and you're ready to go play.

Let us know. I imagine you have help, but if you don't, the 3rd type of meeting (wheeling, eating, and modding) is actually almost as fun as wheeling because you get to get ready to go play in the dirt, and you can check out other people's rigs and get ideas for you own. I'm good at electrical, and some mechanical, so it's nice to have people who are good at the stuff you're not at to help build your rig, so you can leverage all those resources.

A friend of mine who lives in Mont Bellview by Houston has those. Pretty cool looking but personally I like a lower profile sleeker look. They are, however, pricey, and that turned me off.

$500/$650 sounds a lot better than $950. I think I need to let go of the aesthetic part of it and find a deal on something that will get the job done.

Honestly I think you'll find the Shrockworks look very stylish and that their look might grow on you.

I liked the SSO ones too - I need to check them out more. I almost ordered the Shrockworks ones without even shopping around - simply because they are local (and came recommended from a friend). I seriously suck at decision making...but with the lead time to get them - I gotta bite the bullet and get some ordered! Everyone is itching to go wheeling again after all the fun we had at Jambo.

I will say that the Kickout (the round part at the back of the slider) is scuffed up on mine, meaning it moved my truck AWAY from the item. The ones without a kickout are really good for coming down on rocks, but the kickouts are good for driving up next to a rock and having the truck get pushed out of the way.

I probably need kickouts then. haha. I scratched my bumper up getting too close to a rock or something - not sure what happened.

Here are the schrockworks sliders that I just installed last night. Apologies for the low light levels early this morning. If you have any other shots that you would like to see please let me know. Install was approx. 2 hours. I haven't gotten used to them being there yet. I like the look of them and I like the fact that they hug the body and aren't huge steps. After all I am not doing this so that I can haul my mother in law around town...
