Have to have 15 posts or something like that. It is a way to help not ask the same questions over and over without some searching and reading. In the process a new person learns how to use their forum. That's the goal at least.

I'm also a member of that forum and have had a few posts with no problem. It does seem to offer good technical info, but I do like both groups and check them daily. - Ted.

It wont let you start a new thread until you have 15 replies/comments/posts, but it should let you comment on an existing thread. What do you need to post? We can maybe help here?

Should we run a referral contest on here to get members to join up from the other site? What prizes would you guys like?

It's a chicken and egg situation...the only positive we (the staff) hear about the other site is just its member size, basically.

I don't think you will have any problem getting people to join cause new members on the other site cant post anything.... I like the stuff 4 sale but that just due to the # of members they have on that site, and forum hasn't be open that long, just my 2 cents worth

Well seeing how most of my friends use there 4Runners as family vehicles other than a actual utility vehicles is why I figured this forum is not as active. I get asked about my 4Runners.com decal all the time but they are not interested in modifying their 4Runner because their wife drives it most. Sad but this is what I have noticed. Glad I still have a Tacoma too.

HEHE "member size". It is true though that is all they have going for them. The user interface of this and TW forums is sooo much better than t4r.org.

@Bob in addition to decals, you can offer up business cards to the three sites so members can just hand them out. :D

That being said, the natural progression of growth sometimes is better than a hired in rush as the culture seems peaceful on Tundras.com and 4Runners.com, where Tacomaworld.com has begun to border on the edge of ruthlessness. With more however comes more everything I guess.

I've highly enjoyed being apart of Tundras.com and also the few folks I've talked with on here.
While I was on TacomaWorld.com maybe I enjoyed it more then because I was active there and knew who was who and what was what but now visiting it almost seems scary. :crapstorm:

I changed some lights, tires and tinted windows...mind blowing huh
TW crossed that line a long time ago, the overall feeling of TW is not welcoming at all like it used to be. I see @Bob let a new mod loose and I like what he's doing. I'm all for having fun and busting each others balls but lately members new and old are just being dicks to each other for no real reason. Hopefully the mods will bust some skulls and get it back to the TW I used to know, if I joined TW today as a new member I don't know how long I would stick around. Not sure about tundras.com but I like it over here, really chill, I can't wait for the numbers to climb and it get a bit busier too.

Tundras.com seems kind of like how the Trucks are themselves. Tacoma is more "lifestyle" shoot from the hip, and Tundras are more relaxed and matured. LOL.
Really good core group of people on there who are active, making others feel welcomed and will answer questions with valid answers.

Even the ball busters over there are of the healthy required variety.
Would also love to see this forum grow, as I need more places to talk to other cool people while I'm supposed to be working.

Being not completely new to 4runners, but also being in the market for another one for my youngest daughter, I joined the other forum but simply cannot stand watching the little blue wheel running in circles while the site takes 2-3 minutes to even load up, and then another blue wheel cycle starts all over again every time I click on something. USELESS.

At the same time, though, I am finding responses in this forum rather slow to drift in, but could be due to "not cleverly enticing" wording on my part for my thread title.

I am on TW, t4r.org, and this forum (as far as my 4-wheeled vehicles). I am on several other motorcycle forums and several "outdoor exploration oriented" type websites.

Here's my impressions of vehicle specific forums as opposed to "lifestyle" forums (this forum being a vehicle-specific forum):

Members of a vehicle specific forum come from all backgrounds and their one common link is ownership of the same type of vehicle, in this case, a 4Runner. As such, you get varied experiences and a cross section of humanity. This sounds like a good thing but sometimes it isn't because you have guys with tons of experience, a built rig, and a machine shop in their basement; and then you have a 68 year old retired woman who bought a 4Runner because it was more safe than a Scion. So then you get a disparity of knowledge, which results in the newb who doesn't know how to use 4WD asking a "stupid" question getting massacred by the guy who is actively posting from a hotspot while he navigates the Rubicon and kills bears with his bare hands and shit.

Members of a lifestyle specific forum (an example for me, that caters to the ADV motorcycling lifestyle, would be advrider.com) generally have become members of that forum because they share common interests. The vehicle brand they use to achieve their motorcycle-based exploration is really kind of incidental. Their experiences are generally similar and their interests in using the vehicle are similar, so you get a community that is more close knit and with less disparity in experience between the members. That tends to promote getting along better... mostly.. and it promotes more posting and more traffic.

This forum, while enjoyable, has a great disparity in skill set, vehicle type, and interests between it's members. I really don't even click on the "stupid" threads anymore, I have no interest in trying to explain to someone what is clearly spelled out in the owners manual, you know? I bet there are others who feel that same way; as a result, traffic here is a lot slower than t4r.org. I won't lie, I spend most of my 4Runner internet time at t4r.org, simply because of the amount of traffic and the new threads.

I do appreciate this forum and your involvement in getting it up and running.
