How long at the port?

See, this is why I love this forum. Other people here just like me. I’d also like to know if anyone here can track BNSF railcars.

 

This thread is very helpful and informative. I'm waiting on a 2022 Lunar Rock TRD ORP. Here is my timeline:

Deposit: 6/13/22
Allocation: 7/13/22
Hit port: 7/20/22

I heard from my salesman that it was still "processing" at port on 8/3. He originally said I could expect to take delivery by the end of August. It has been radio silence since 8/3 so I called him today and learned that he is no longer with the dealership! Left a message with sales and am eagerly awaiting a call back.

 

Might want to check those dates when you finally connect with someone at the dealership. Based on my experience and others I've read about, there's about a week between allocation and the start of the build, then a week to build, then two weeks in transit across the ocean before it hits port (at least for a west coast port). It'll be A status the whole time but adds up to about four weeks between allocation and hitting port.

 

For a Lexus GX460 (same build plant as 4Runner in Tahara, Japan) being delivered to Colorado Springs:

Production confirmed: 5/24/2022

Build date: 6/23/2022

Vessel depart: 7/6/2022

Vessel arrive: 7/20/2022

Port processing: 8/2/2022 (1st notification received on app showing 52psi on tires, less than a quarter tank of gas, and 1mi. on odometer)

Rail depart: 8/16/2022 (estimate based on 2nd notification received on app showing multiple doors unlocked)

Rail arrive: 8/18/2022 (in Denver) - Dealer advised it takes 2 days to a week to get loaded onto the truck and delivered to Colorado Springs

Dealer arrive: 8/24/2022 (multiple notifications received on app showing 32psi on tires, full tank of gas, 3mi. on odometer, and multiple doors unlocked - pre-delivery inspection being performed I presume)

Scheduled pickup: 8/26/2022 (dealer offered either 8/26 or 8/27)

 

Thanks for the reply. I talked to the dealership yesterday and the new salesman confirmed that it arrived on rail at the Chicago logistics park on 8/19. They said it would be a week or two until it arrives at the dealership.

Thanks for the reply. This looks like a similar schedule to mine from the vessel arrive date onward. I don't know when exactly it was processed at the port or when it departed on rail but it "rail arrived" on 8/19 in Chicago. I'm in the Cleveland, OH area and the dealer said it would be about two weeks until pickup. Fingers crossed for sooner though!

 

Good luck! We’re in the same boat (and our vehicles may have actually been on the same boat lol). My sales person told me by the end of the month so hopefully you’ll get it before months end. Dealers are being careful/smart with conservative estimates, as it’s best to under-promise and over-deliver

Apologies for the redundancy. I went back a few months worth of posts but am looking for a little more current info. I’m currently waiting on my ride, sitting in Long Beach port. Been there since 8/5. Anyone have any insight how quickly it could start moving? Dealership won’t give me an estimated date, just sent a screenshot showing the status of “vessel arrived”.

 

It will depend on how many accessories the port will have to install. It will also take longer to get delivered if your 4Runner will be put on a train to get to your area. I think I was in "F" Status for over 20 days and then my 4Runner was put on a semi truck and was in "G" status for 3 days and then I was called by my dealership to come down and pick it up.

 

Ok thanks! I’m actually picking it up at West Coast Toyota in Long Beach so the transport time after leaving the port should be same day.

 

Are you guys putting the vin in the Toyota app before you actually get your trucks? Does this allow you to track them?

You have to have to actual VIN number of the 4Runner and have a desk top computer with Google chrome. Sorry but I do not have time this afternoon to help but will try latter today. I didn't do the Toyota APP. It was a long process of right & left mouse clicks on a home computer to find the "A" "F" & "G" status thing.

 

Took delivery yesterday after a month in port and 3 weeks after port processing and then straight to the woods! Feels good!

 

I have the app w the VIN entered but have not received any notifications. I wasn’t able to get the google chrome/right click to show the status. Could be I’m on a secure vpn through a work computer…

For those waiting, was told mine should be leaving Long Beach port on 9/1 after arriving 8/5.

 

Took delivery yesterday. Arrived in port on 7/20 and took delivery on 8/31.

 

Nice! Did it come into Long Beach and where is the dealership? Just trying to figure out how much time in transport.

 

Came into port at Portland, OR and dealership is outside Cleveland, OH.

New user here, looking forward to taking possession of a '22 TRD Pro in black (priced @ MSRP with a small dealer add-on, not including Toyota-added parts).

My sales guy is perfectly nice, but communication has been a little too sparse for me . I got an update this morning that it's been sitting at the port, waiting for transportation to the dealership, which should be within the next couple of weeks. The dealership is in PA, so assuming the port/regions are set in stone, it should be in NJ < 3 hours away.

Is there any way to find out when it first arrived in the port? I've seen folks here mention waiting a month for transportation to the dealership, so I want to manage my expectations.
I tried adding the VIN to the Toyota app, but I don't see any status updates/codes, the odometer is N/A, and there's no vehicle status. I also mistakenly ended up activating the connected service features

I just got back from a trip to Montana, and after seeing what seemed like well over a hundred 4Runners, I'm getting very antsy!

 

I’m still waiting (also going crazy)… my sales person was able to provide a screenshot of what she sees. It also has build date, etc. I attached the screenshot I got from her. It’s been in Long Beach port since 8/5.

 

Mine was about a week at port before it was offloaded from the cargo vessel. With no port add-ons, it was trucked from NJ to CT the next day.

 

That’s good info. Mine has a few port add on’s so I wonder if that’s contributing to the additional delay. I haven’t even been able to confirm it’s been off loaded yet though.

 

My dealer was able to see on their system exactly when it was scheduled for offload, when it was on a truck, etc. But from when it arrived in port to being offloaded was about a week or 10 days.

I am based in NJ, and the port is less than 15 minutes from the dealership

 

My sale guy told me that mine was at the port and then it would be loaded on the train soon. It should be at the dealership at the end of the month. TRD off road premium 2023 Nautical Blue Metallic

 

I added my VIN to the Toyota app, and until today, I didn't think it would do anything. This morning, I got a notification from the app and saw that the odometer read 1mi. I assume this means the vehicle has been offloaded from the cargo ship.

Assuming that's correct, the next step would be port add-ons. Unfortunately, I'm waiting for a TRD Pro, so I assume that means the suspension, roof rack, wheels/tires plus a few smaller add-ons (dual USB ports, edge guards, step rail).

I'm hoping after all this is done, the vehicle would immediately be loaded onto a transport truck (~2.5hr from NJ port to dealer).

Can anyone confirm if my understanding is correct? Anyone willing to take a stab at how long it'll take for the add-ons to be installed?

edit: something I noticed in the app (in the vehicle specification section) is that the TRD Pro package is listed as factory installed - is this actually the case?

 

@j2runner your timeline seems pretty spot on, the app is correct in what is a port vs factory add on. Mine had all the port listed accurately. My understanding is that it will ping when off-loaded. Mine sat in port in Long Beach for 6 weeks but had some port add ons. I took delivery of it on Saturday.

From the screenshot you posted, it entered "processing" status on 9/6 and then delivery was on 9/10? Crossing my fingers and hoping my pickup is this Saturday as well lol
