    Hi All,

Brought home this '17 beauty (foreground) over Easter weekend. You can see my '04 double cab in the background that seems as though it's a little sad that it's now been demoted from "daily driver" status. It will be happier once I really tear into it as an off-road/overlander rig.

I love it! Way back in the day I had a 1st gen '86 Turbo 4Runner, and drove that one to 300K+ miles. Plan the same for this one!

Welcome aboard with your new beauty. You can break it in nicely with a run up the west coast highways to British Columbia, Canada! - Cheers, Ted

I'll be getting close to BC this summer; heading to a family reunion in July to WA state. And another trip to eastern OR to watch the eclipse.

I've been wanting a 4Runner ever since I sold my 1st gen back in '03. Been using the DC (pictured) to tow the camper trailer, but the 4Runner will make the trips much more comfy (with internal storage!) and the added power of the 4L will help on the hills, too!

Where in Wash. is the reunion? I may be able to give you some tips as I lived in Anacortes, Wash. from '79-'99 and covered many miles in the northwest on my BMW bike and several 4x4s. There are some great places to visit. - Ted

Spokane. Will probably go through Bend and visit a brewery or two or just pick a few brews from the cooler at the camp site (towing a trailer), then continue over to 395 the rest of the way. Might head back west over to 101 for the trip back down, and stay a few days on the beach somewhere in OR. Been wanting to take the *long* way through Yellowstone again, then down to Grand Staircase, Canyonlands, etc... but I don't think we'll have that kind of time off from work, especially with *another* reunion 3 weeks later (that one is local, at least).

Thought about doing it in one shot (done it before pre-kids) going up I-5 and cutting over on 84, but I like the drive up 395 and 97 *way* better. Plus, since we have a camper trailer, what's the point of driving non-stop anyway?

Then, for the eclipse, we're heading to Owyhee St Park in Eastern OR

Welcome. It's nice to see another fellow from Sacramento. I run up to the Bend area a few times a year to visit my wife's family. I even purchased my 4Runner in Bend, Oregon.

Welcome to the site! You are lucky you got a campsite, they sold out in 1 hour! It's going to be chaos in all the small rural towns in Oregon that day. We are lucky enough that my parents live in Redmond, OR so we will be watching the eclipse from there.

Yeah, we wanted a more central OR site, but like you say, all were taken! Should be fun! Taking our 8" SCT telescope/solar filter too. :)

Sounds like your vacation is fully planned and there won't be much time for more exploring. Drive safe, have fun, and keep the rubber side down. - Cheers, Ted
