Eibach 2.0

Glad to hear someone else has noticed this. I love this kit for daily driving, but I feel the rebound is awful when hitting something hard with some speed. The coilovers soak it up decently, but the rebound is very hard. I was about to ask if anyone else was experiencing this.

 

Yea I had high hopes for this kit and sorry to hear it disappointed you as well. This kit was going to be for demo purposes for our shop but we will not be recommending it at this time for anything other than highway use based on my experience with it. The solution Eibach offered was for me to talk to their main tech, I did not call him as I know this is just how its tuned.

Added a 0.6" Dobinsons spacer in the rear to help offset the lean.

UPDATE: I didn't wanna give up on these but they're just not made to be taken off road IMO. They're set at 2.5"(center of threads/sweet spot as Eibach says) and they're topping out. They'd probably do ok with stock uca's and set at 2" or less. They will be coming off in the next week or so.

 

Any idea what you are going to try next?

If you're going to spend that kind of money, why not control rebound to your liking with a Bilstein 8100/8112?

 

I've never been a fan of Bilstein and at those prices even at cost isn't appealing to me. Nothing more than personal preference. We run Elka on sxs and their tuning and adjusters work very well IMO. I'm bored with Kings but they work well too, only fault is the steel bodies but can easily be wrapped or coated. Only 3 that I'm considering are these and in this order:
1. Elka 2.5
2. Fox 2.5 DSC
3. King

Note for anyone looking for more feedback:
Went out on another outing today(30-35 miles off road) and my opinion on the Eibach 2.0 still stands. They do well on packed gravel roads and on smooth highways but that's about it. The rebound/top out when off road when on even the smallest drop offs(wash outs, rocks, ruts, etc) is extremely stiff.

 

I'll be very interested in your review of Elka should you go that route.

 

Bummer to hear. Read good reviews about Eibach. Have a Stage 1 sitting by my front door in the box ready to install shortly.

Just to confirm, front setting at full height had a harsh ride but softened when lowered some? How much?
Rears are simply "set it and forget it?
Lean is possible but variable rig to rig?

 

My front coilovers are set to 2.5" and is exactly in the middle of the threads. My rear kit consists of Eibach coils(non HD) and their pro truck sport shocks, so no adjustability unless you get their load leveling set up.

 

Any comparison to Off Road Pro to Limited? Reason I ask, every suspension has different design parameters'. Curious what Eibach was designing it to accomplish? Slow off road , or fast off road, or just reduce nose dive while street driving. So many variables.
If I lived in the city, I would want a softer rebound, compression.

 

I'm pretty certain I read elsewhere the setup I chose does not include the Limited trim, just for those reasons, but when I look on the site I bought from, if you click on the "View Compatibility List" tab, it shows compatibility with ALL 4WD trim levels, and excludes 2WD. I would contact Eibach directly to know for certain.

Not speaking for them but I'd guess a better street driving/easy forest service road.

 

I have that suspension as my first one to replace the Limited's, as the shocks are leaking..
I drive a ZO7 C4 Corvette. You hit a dime on the road and you feel it. I guess, with the 4runner being a truck, I shouldnt really be too concerned. Eibach is a damn good world renowned company.. They dont build crap.. I assume they would do their homework prior to offering a product.
To be honest, if we wanted better handling, we would have different tires, wheels, thicker sway bars, lower it......

Do you have a picture (or could you take one) of about how much thread you have under the collar to keep lowering it if you wanted in the front? I've heard of people being able to only get 1.5 out of this kit in the front and that's what I want so I'm not nose high when loaded down. Thanks!

I think you will like the Elka's. Drive great all situations. Price is only thing bad I can say about them.

 

With getting 2.5" of lift with the perch about in the middle of the thread, do you have an idea of about how much lower it could go? Like is there about 1/2" or more of thread under the perch still? Been searching all over the forums trying to confirm if the Eibach coilovers can do less than 2" up front and it seems like they should be able to regardless of the specs saying 2" min.
