I hear ya, but im kinda worried that the MSRP is going to jump up substantially on the 2023's because of all the rising input costs.

SC probably isn't a great idea on a 140k motor.

If I ever go up in tire size I'll probably consider regearing. If I want more RPM now I guess I can just drive around in S4 all the time. Be nice if you didn't have to rev the 4.0 to the moon to get any power of it.

I know it says that online in the specs but it's not what those who have or do own both Gens say, it not much different but they say the 4th gen turns tighter.

I sold my stock-ish 2003 V8 4th Gen to my buddy for $7k a couple of years ago. They sell all day for twice that today, with more miles......:frustrated: but he did at least put gobs of money into it and is keeping it. Here's what a 4th Gen looks like lifted and on 35's.

What 5th gen is $60,000? You can get into a sr5 premium for mid 40’s or a plain sr5 for cheaper.

I've had both. I haven't had any trouble making U-turns with my '19 in places I did with my '03.

Has anyone actually measured it? Or, does it just feel bigger?

Look at the dimensions. Same wheelbase, almost the same length and width. They probably still use the same rack, knowing Toyota.

I'm just responding to the person who's post I quoted. He specifically said 60k. With higher end models, I'm sure it's fairly easy to get to 60k with "market adjustment" and taxes.

And it's not like mid 40s for an SR5 is any type of good value.

Yeah - I didn't look up the specs, but I park the two 4Runners side-by-side in the parking garage - it's basically a 270d turn (right into the garage, immediate right, then another immediate right into my spot). With the 2004, I basically just turn the wheel all the way right and I end up perfectly in the spot. With the 2022, doing the same thing leaves me way out of line and I have to back up and recenter. It's not like driving a full-sized truck, but there's definitely something different with the turning circle between my two 4Runners.

Have you tried switching spots to see if the '22 can pull in where the '04 normally does, and vise versa?

I just don't get how they can publish inaccurate specifications. Maybe it has something to do with the overhang being longer in front on one, and in the rear on the other.

Yep - I switch spots all the time. The 5th gen definitely steers differently.

Gotcha, I was going off what I see around me. With the cost of all new SUVs these days I thought $44,000 for a fully loaded vehicle was a good value seeing that a traverse is shit and costs more than that fully loaded for a example.

I just got a quote last night for a White SR5 premium 4x4 with tan leather interior and 3rd row seat. It was MSRP 46k and ended up being like 57k out the door after tax, license, markup etc...

I am near Phoenix Az and I am having a seriously hard time finding the one my wife really wants. Its slim pickins out here and the dealers act like im inconveniencing them.

Rather have a new one since the used ones are so expensive right now, and my wife has a pretty specific configuration that she's after. But I am also watching for good used ones to pop up as well. Made an offer on one last week but it sold to someone else.

It’s all about having a good dealer #1, west herr Toyota by me has people coming in from out of state. My sr5 premium was 44,000 with my add ons which was pretty much a sunroof, I didn’t want running boards. $48,000 all said and done with NYS taxes. No mark up, no bullshit dealer fees except for the DMV. Sucks people out there are getting bad treatment. My sales lady let me go on the computer there and built mine to specs. Best allocation was everything that came how I wanted but had door guards and wheel locks.

Maybe I should road trip across the country then! Do you pay the tax of the state you buy the vehicle in? or do you pay the tax in the state that you register the vehicle in?

For example, if Im in arizona but travel to NY to buy the truck new, do i pay 4% NY tax?
Or do I have to pay the 6% tax from arizona where I will register the vehicle?

doesn't matter where you buy it. you pay the sales/excise taxes in the state where it is registered.

Maybe I just don't notice because I had a Tacoma in between. :notsure: The 4Runner definitely turns better than the Tacoma did! :D

    That Depends......
I flew to Arizona to buy a truck from a Dealer, and they forced me to pay the tax there. A few weeks later I got the Title in the mail with my name on it, so I just rolled like that for a year and never bothered Registering it in my own State. I think they were wrong to do it that way, but I couldn't leave the dealership without it.

yeah, its gets really annoying when trying to buy a car in a different state that doesn't issue temporary tags/plates. we went thru that with a purchase down in massachusetts.

the other state's dealer might collect it on behalf of the state of residence, but it ultimately gets paid to where the vehicle is registered, at that state's tax rate.

I truly have no idea, but our tax here is unfortunately 8%. I saw a recent review on there google reviews from a customer who came from out of state for a hybrid Prius I believe and was extremely happy. I feel like you would get double taxed.

For everyone complaining about rising costs and demand for vehicles, maybe consider how trading in frequently affects vehicle demand and cost.
