Do you think it is aiding in fuel economy at all? Or just purely personal preference?

Man, if anything, like .1 mpg. Obviously just the science of aerodynamics and weight will do something, but not much. Just decided to do it cuz i like the way it looks is all.

I ended up taking off the side steps also cuz i didn't like the SR5P steps, and I like the truck a whole lot better without them.

Blacked out badges, window deflectors, smoked 3rd brake light. I have a Borla muffler on order as well as some color matched engine cover stickers. I'll be painting the stock wheels soon as well. Falken tires in the fall as well.
Anyone know how to remove this piece on the dashboard right above the glove box? Once in a while I get a bad sun glare off of it and I want to wrap it. It looks like the silver end pieces have to come off first but I pried on them with plastic tools and they don't budge. Thanks.IMG_0189.jpg

Finally got to spraying Raptor 2k liner on my nerf bars. Waaaaay too windy before today. This stuff is no joke. When they say spray 24-32 inches from item, they mean it! Will post final pics after fully done. Prepping this project took longer than I anticipated.

    Gritty! No rubber.

I will say this stuff is fantastic. However, each can is different in how it sprays, especially when getting down to the last 1/4 can or so. Some completely gloop, others keep spraying a nice thick mist. The key is keeping distance and constantly shaking the can as you go.

I'm going to let these cure for a day or 2 and see how they look back on the 4runner. Pretty satisfied overall with how this project has turned out. Will post more photos when completed.

Edit: This took a total of 4 cans. 3 layers all around with an extra layer on the step pieces for additional grip and protection from wonderful rocks in shoes/boots, etc. ;)

Where did you get those steps?
I feel like those are the best option and best looking for a step if you don't want running boards. Are these the 2" or 3" ?

A question to anyone with the answer.

I noticed chipping on the powder coated sliders. Is that expected from driving on dirt/rock roads or a defect in the powder coating itself? Thanks.

Powder coating is awesome. But even it can only take so much of a beating against rocks/debris. Seems normal. That's what mine were doing (flaking). So I used raptor 2k liner on them to see how it holds up.

These are n-fab nerf bars. 3 inches, wheel to wheel. They were installed when I purchased the 4runner from the dealership.

I have a set. Quick easy install. Better foot purchase when you step on them (OEM) than anything other than Predator steps.

    using this beast appropriately!

:amen: Plenty of off-pavement roads in Arizona (the windshield is evident of that as well, currently on #3 in < 3years :annoyed: but I digress). Thanks for the clarification, thought it was subpar powder coating.

    1) Installed an updated Nav SD Card ($33 from the Jungle). Put it in the slot and it immediately updated. Didn't loose any preset destinations either.
    2) Installed AME air filter ($45 from the Jungle). Quick and easy and a much more substantial looking product than the OEM one. Plus it will pay for itself in a short amount of time since I won't be spending $25 every time I would have to change the filter.

If you don't mind the conversation, why raptor? Is powder coating NOT an option, doable or worth it? Or raptor a better choice after the powder coat fails?

Above aside, thanks for the reassuring that it's expected with heavy use.

Didn't know that. Thus, reassuring my naïveté as I thought something was wrong but instead expected and I was ignorant for having them powder coated. What is a better option? And thanks for sharing, as I do use the vehicle quite a bit (isn't that why we purchase 4Runners? ...that's rhetorical).

Do you happen to know a part # for these? Searching the webs gives a bunch of conflicting info.
I want to go this route, as I don't like my running boards and I don't like the look of the predator steps. These have a nice streamlined look to them while still have a step for wife and kids.

My 2019 4R came with Navigation. It's run from a Micro SD Card. I ordered and installed an updated version (newer streets, etc.).

I went against powder coat due to knowing it will flake off again with rocks and debris flying at it. A friend used raptor on his fenders and sliders. He does a lot more legit off roading than I and it's held up nicely. So I researched the product more and decided to give it a go. It looks tough and durable so I'm hoping it will hold up so that constant touch ups aren't required. I'm one of those people who are a bit obsessed with keeping my rig looking nice. Yes, she's allowed to get filthy, but she needs to clean up and shine, too :D

Plus, getting PCed locally was going to run close to $400+. I saved at least $300 doing it myself.

Normal, most likely rock hits. Powder coating is a waste on armor if you're going to be using it. Rattle can and touch up whenever it shows wear.

ive not used raptor lining but have considered it. Rust oleum high performance enamel is what I use. You’ll probably have to take them off once a year to re-spray them

    Thanks for sharing.

Is it possible to apply the raptor product over powder coated items? Thanks.

All the information I read about raptor liner is that prep is key. You want as clean a surface as you can get. So if the PC is flaking, you'll want to remove it before applying raptor.

I did my due diligence with prepping as while I saved $ with raptor liner vs new PC, the raptor product is not at all cheap like a typical rattle can.

I sanded off all the PC I could and found a bit of surface rust, so got rid of most of that. Then I cleaned with mineral spirits. I sprayed the rusty areas with Rustoleum rust converter, and then applied 2 light coats of the Raptor Adhesion Promoter before I even attempted the actual liner coating.

It was definitely a project. And since it was windy, I had to hold off a few days to spray. And even letting the liner cure for 3 days after it's all done feels like an eternity. But I want to do it right since I don't want to have to go back and touch up as often.

Sorry for the long answer :p

NEVER apologize for being thorough, whether the raptor liner project or the answer. Much appreciate it. :yay: Thank you.
