Just got my 2016 trail, and had my eye on a prinsu. I like the flat top better that say a gobi, that has a semi basket style. But before I drop the money on one, I'd like to explore all my options. What other racks are you guys running and how satisfied are you with them?

Just put on a full length Prinsu rack last month, and very happy with it. I had BajaRack's Utility rack on my FJ Cruiser, that served me well. Front Runner also makes a flat top rack

How was the drilling? Any leaks?

I installed a Baja full length rack just yesterday.

    http://www.bajarack.com/?id=racks_list_inside&idRack=51

The hardware is solid, the construction is top notch as are the installation instructions. All the parts are labeled. It is pretty much fool proof. (Even I couldn't screw up the install job, but I tried by almost installing one of the brackets upside down....LOL). No drilling required, no leaks but it has not gotten wet yet.

One thing I did not consider or even remembering reading about prior to install was the noise that is created by a roof rack, or at least by the rack I installed. I got the full length with the cutout for the sunroof. When driving down the highway yesterday with the sunroof open, I could definitely hear a sound that wasn't there before the rack was installed. So......take that into consideration.

Drilling was definitely a nervous experience, but so far no issues. We've had some good rain storms in Houston and a car wash, and everything is still dry inside.

I got the optional wind deflector with light bar cut out, and the optional noise reducing edge trim. Even without a light bar installed, I have zero wind noise from it.

If your '16 trail has the rear shark fin antenna, you'll need to order a 1"x1" cross bar for the very back, as it seems that the '16+ fin is different than earlier models.

I have no sunroof, and I figured it would make some noise, I had seen a video of a guy who installed a full length prinsu and then drove down the high way and the noise was almost nothing. Wondering what the MPG hit will be.

The prinsu's look much sleeker so I would think they are quieter. I think the impact on your fuel economy is negligible or immaterial. Go for it if you want it, I say.

Any pics you'd care to share of the frontrunner rack installed?

The Frontrunner looks good but me personally, I like the look of the full roof rack. Here's my '16 SR5 with a full length Baja Rack with sunroof cutout.

Granted, I now have a noise with sunroof open that I didn't have prior to install of the roof, but I think it looks better.

Subbed since I am currently in the full length rack market myself...leaning towards Prinsu.

The echotechne looks good but it seems you have to purchase more parts to have a complete rack. The prinsu looks good but I could not see myself drilling holes into the roof of my truck. That's just me though, if there is a way to screw up a project, I will find a way, so no drilling for me.

Are you dead set on a full length rack? The 3/4 Prinsu doesn't require drilling

I was looking at that one. Can't tell whether or not I like it. Was hoping someone here had one, but so far no dice.

If you're not planning to ever mount a roof top tent, it'll probably be sufficient for your offroad needs. If you are, go with a full length. If you don't trust yourself drilling the roof, find a good shop that will stand behind their work.

Prinsu also makes a new 7/8 length rack that doesn't require drilling. My issue is on the 7/8 and the 3/4 length rack the faring sits up higher than the rack and I need to be able to mount a Yakima Skybox up there and I think that it would make contact with the fairing. I also am trying to avoid drilling into my roof..

I wonder if you could just trim the top of the fairing, to make it fit?

About a month ago I installed the long EA K9 rack. Very happy with it, well built, good customer service. No extra noise with the sun roof screen closed.

Just checked those out. They seem to be almost identical to the Rhino\ front runner design.

So after hemming and hawing over this thing, i actually decided to go with a gobi. Full length rack that doesn't need drilling. Expensive as hell, but I think It will be a solid purchase in the long run. Thank you to all who chimed in and helped with the decision!

How do you like the rack, OP? I'm looking to get the gobi at some point. Does anyone know how much the rack and the vehicle roof can safely hold? I want the full length rack if that matters.

Anyone have any experience with NFAB's racks? I ordered their nerf bars and their T102MRF looks good for what I want it to do. Thoughts?
