What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Did an oil change on Saturday and added the TRD Skid Plate!

 

Fast forward 2 days and I dinged the new skid plate already lol Also scratched up the truck a bit...

 

I believe that will buff out. My Nauti Blue was a lot worse. Took 20 hrs over 4 days and a case of beer, but the pin stripes are gone. I used Meguires Solo Cut and Polish Cream on a medium wool bonnet running the polisher at 1800 rpm. Take it one individual stripe at a time so that you can see your progress. Trying to do an "area" is futile. Both sides looked like this, bumper to bumper.

Went to lowes and noticed they have parking for the Pro.

It's a Venture, but lowes doesn't know that. Lol.

 

Removed the Toyota running boards. Then installed the back half(transmission) skid plate from Rival. Front half should be here today. Waiting for an inline transmission filter to get here(on the way), before I mount the front skid. I don’t want to have to remove it to install the filter.

Had this blackout window film laying around since Dec 2020 and decided to replace the WeatherTech reflectix window covers with this film. Not sure if it's a good or stupid idea but I am going to find out.

Not too complicated to install but frustrating from not knowing how it gets installed, and not being gifted with the tedious tolerance gene in my DNA. Came with installing instructions but were not helpful. Installation is somewhat like installing tint film, if that helps. I am sure a lot of patience helps too!

got it inspected and needed rear brakes :/ the guy said the right rear was down to a 3 and the left was a 6. dont know why they wore out unevenly. i also got rear brakes i feel like not that long/many miles ago.

 

been a fun couple of weeks piecing together the parts I wanted.

havent installed a single thing yet, not enough motivation to work in 100 degree weather lol

 

Got a set of the SS3 Sport ditch lights and SS3 Pro fog lights (both in amber) from Diode Dynamics for their July 4th sale. The passenger fog light was a pain because of the plastic covering that needs to get removed. Other than that, installs were easy. Now I just gotta take it out somewhere in the dark to get them lined up properly. Next light mod...raptor lights.

 

not sure why folks call the yellow SS3 fog lights "amber". the only thing amber about some of them is the back-lit feature.

 

Installed the Yokohama MT’s last week, got to test them out today. Great tire so far, hopefully the tread life will last a while.

Got the skid plates installed, and changed the oil. What a PITA. I guess that I got spoiled by my Tacoma. Which was not helped by the fact that the dealership overfilled the crankcase by about 2 qts. Well, it's done, and now that I know what I am doing, it should go more smoothly next time, and since I didn't over fill it, I won't have oil everywhere.

 

May have permanently burned my retinas out of my head! These Meso Lights are bomb diggity! Wife might not like how bright they are... We will see.

Changed out the regular interior bulbs for some white LED's. This shows the difference. Lot cleaner light.

You're not the only one, did that too. RRW bur not the same ones but close. My wife thinks I love my 4runner more than her. Nonsense I tell her her. Funny story, this song came on in the garage one day

She came out and said see i told you, you love that car more than me. LOL the moral to this is, try not to spend to much time with the 4runner. Equal amount, that includes the money. Haha.
