But again, you are not answering the question, what would you expect from an industry that is being targeted by the government?

I have been thinking about switching over to an electric water heater, good to hear on the hybrid, I’ll have to research up.

Argghhh. I hate CFLs. Check out Costco or Home Depot for Feit LED bulbs. Prices have really come down since they were first introduced.

True! I'm an electrician, and we don't install anything else anymore.

I just bought some 60’s 70’s Christmas light bulbs.

You can get bulbs on EBay.

Amazon swapped out my three ways for cheap 20 watters, I sent them back and they got it right the second time.

Clearly you're not willing to make any changes, including a more efficient vehicle.

He's bitching about gas prices, doesn't want to change, expects the world to adapt to his needs. Boomer?

I will take a more efficient 4R. I'm not willing to plug a vehicle in and wait 30 minutes per charge on a 3000 mile road trip. That turns into a lot of not moving towards the destination.

That's what the $10,000 TRD roof rack power bank will be for. You'll just need to buy a $500 TRD dongle and charging cable to use it

Another couple thousand will get you a TRD solar panel to fit on top of the roof rack battery Bank to keep it charged

With all the stuff mounted to your roof, your mileage will drop to nothing, and you'll be constantly charging and recharging the batteries.
I just want a hybrid for next family vehicle, use the electric around town and gas for long trips. seems sensible to me?

They're not being targeted by the government, lol. They have more leases than they want to use, by a lot. They're subsidized by the government.

Jesus, dude. I've never seen someone make the oil companies out to be such victims.

The post you quoted suggested that a hybrid is a better option. Is that not more efficient than an ICE?

Unfortunately, there isn't currently a hybrid 4Runner option. And, even if there was, not everybody can just run out and buy a new car.

Exactly. I'd be all over a hybrid 4Runner, if it maintained the off road capability. And, if I can afford it!

I don't believe there was a point to begin with. It seems like you just want to argue with anyone who isn't jumping on the electric bandwagon.

So, now you're just attempting to insult everyone's intelligence?

You're going to be very popular here.

Most of us are able to disagree without insulting each other. You might try that sometime.

We purchased our 4runner trail because it had front, rear, and transfer case lockers.
AWD was our previous Toyota, and many times I barely got out of where we were exploring, camping, fishing, hunting.

Why would we purchase a 4 runner without front locker, 4WD? Might as well get a smart car.

I am going to convert our handicap, wheelchair accessible van to 4WD.
Without 4WD, including front locker, we will not purchase another vehicle.

We also live in winter's snow, on a secondary road, relatives live in desert, two handicapped people in our home. We cannot afford to be stuck or locked in. At times emergency medical cannot access us.

4Runners never came with front or transfer case locker. Only rear lockers.

Man, I wish I lived that patriotism era. I was in high school, NYC area NJ, close enough to see all of the emergency vehicles going to NYC from my home. That school year was the worst. One of the most hellish years of my life. The borderline subhumans were everywhere. Cruelty was on the menu every day. Oh, and I'm white. It's not like I'm middle eastern or something and had bigots harassing me for being Bin Laden's brother or something, though I saw that happen to some middle easterners, too.

I’m not saying they are the victims. I’m saying they were told they can not expand by executive order, stoping all new leases. The same order is pushing green energy and is basically anti oil. Is that not targeting the oil industry. Banning the building of any new gas stations? Is that not targeting the industry? Forcing EV sales by certain year, is that not targeting the oil industry? If this is what the agenda has been so far, what do you expect the companies to do? And we are the ones suffering because of the choices our government has made. Squeezing one industry while opening the flood gates to another.

The full time 4wd models have center lockers, as they're the only ones with center differentials.

But, you're correct about the front lockers. I'm sure there's a few of us here who would love to have that option! :D

That is sad to know. I hope you get to experience and feel that way someday of course on a positive note.

I am from the Midwest (metro Detroit) and for probably a year I never experienced such patriotism. 4 out of 5 cars had a portable flag flying and flag stickers in windows. USA flag pins were the norm on everything from a t shirt to a suit and tie. Truck loads left here for NYC, DC and PA just like the rest of the country sent that way. USA chants at kids soccer games, baseball you name it.
That was a brief positive that came out of such a tragic event.

If you tell people about the bad stuff, it's harder for them to feel self righteous about their "zero emissions vehicle."
