This truck needs an alignment. It's chewing up the outer shoulder on the fronts.

I built out my SR5p to be a TRD slayer. I feel like I would be downgrading by putting a Pro sticker on my vehicle. So a long time ago I de-badged the 4Runner instead to leave it a mystery.

I'll co-sign on this. That said, I did put black TRD PRO wheels on my Nautical Blue SR5. I didn't care for the OEM SR5 wheels, not a fan of Methods, etc. I also swapped out the silver OEM rack for a black OEM rack, along with the black badge overlays. To me the black complements the Nautical Blue really well, and isn't as jarring as the OEM metallic silver/aluminum/chrome against the Nautical Blue paint. I will admit I have been tempted to get the OEM Heritage Grill because I love the look, but I can't swallow that insane price (I'm not a fan of the knock-off versions). The sombrero isn't bad, but I don't really like how it breaks up, rather intrudes into that horizontal trim piece in the grill area. I like the continuity of the straight, black OEM Heritage piece.

And I agree, the badge swapping to me is the big "no-no" as far as trim level "fouls". I don't see any issue with swapping/upgrading/modding a Toyota Model with other Toyota parts. It doesn't make said trim model a wannabe this model or that model.

Has anyone noticed the more you pay, the higher your badges? My SR5 badge sits level with the bottom of the windows. You guys and your fancy 2-3 word badges are like halfway up.

I'm not doing anything to mine for a couple years, but have a plan for a mild build down the road. My brain thought it would be funny to add either the "OFF ROAD" or "PRO" badge in the correct spot relative to my SR5 badge. Now that I look at it though, there's no room to screw around. I'd have to move the SR5 up 6-8 inches to look right with an Off Road under it

I have an SR5 model and switched out the OEM “snowflake” wheels to the TRD Off Road OEM wheels. I still have my SR5 badges though. It’s not like I want to pass off my 4runner as being a TRD Off Road model. I like the look of the wheels, and they’re a lot easier to clean. The TRD Off Road OEM wheels are also wider which gives you the option for bigger tires in the future. It’s a slight upgrade if you will. I’d like to eventually get them powder coated black which really goes well with the super white color. I got a really good deal on them and couldn’t pass it up. I paid $300 for all four wheels. They were brand new takeoffs. The owner had them replaced with TRD Pro wheels at the dealer before driving his new rig home. I guess some people aren’t really feeling it with the TRD Off Road OEM wheels….and that’s definitely AOK. I absolutely have no qualms with that. I believe this thread is about degrading (for lack of a better word) vs. tastefully upgrading the form, fit, and function of one’s particular 4runner. But one may argue that beauty is really in the eyes of the beholder.

I very much agree. l often compare myself to people that truly know this. They look so happy. It makes me sad I can’t be like that.

here we are on a car forum judgin’ people for their “PRO-nouns.” Lolz.

Joking aside, if youre feeling “disrespected” by the badges on someone else’s car, maybe take a few breaths. No need to go saber rattling because someone does the hobby different. No harm, no foul.

One of my favorite things about my OG Trail is that it has no badges other than "4Runner".

Guys, don't you have anything better to do? I, for one, cannot equate a car with "Stolen Valor"=I had friends die over there and almost had to go myself (I stayed stateside for my military career!)

The other day I saw what I believe to be an SR5 with SR5 bumpers, but a Pro grille and roof rack...and even a TRD hood. SR5 badges... So confused.

I’ll show all of those posers! I’m going to put SR5 badges on my Pro and confuse the hell out of them. Time to downgrade badge status. Lol.

There was a guy with a TRD sport next to us at the KOA and he’d put limited badges on it. I very politely wandered over and asked him to put his old badges back on or leave. Long story short, I got my ass kicked and had to leave, but these people are ruining this community.

Pro grilles, roof racks, wheels, and TRD hoods are swapped all the time. There's a long thread (currently over 550 posts) by owners looking to swap hoods. The vast majority are not looking to fool the world that they're driving a Pro, they just like those parts better than what they have.

The hood scoop does nothing, the roof rack is overly tall and clunky in my opinion.. That rationale doesn't make sense to me.

Some people like the looks of the scoop. Some people like the rack. A lot of people like the heritage grille.

If the rationale doesn't make sense to you, that's the reason you haven't swapped any PRO stuff onto yours. ;)

+1. That's definitely over the top.

I generally don't care what others do with their vehicles, until they start doing things that actually make them unsafe.

I think it's fine to swap out parts with another trim. I think it's silly to try to convince others that your X trim is a PRO, but I also don't care.

The Pro grille is probably #1 on the swap list, followed by the wheels; the scooped hood third, the roof rack bringing up the rear, based on threads I've seen. Somewhere in there is a swap of the OR/SR5 suspension for the Pro Fox setup.

Some people need more hobbies! This 4R just gets me to the places for the things I like to do - of which a mini van would probably suffice most of the time!
