I dont understand it either lol. It sucks! As if the temp sensor is in the back of the car under the seats or something. It eventually settles down when it gets to temp, but that takes longer than most of my commutes, which effectively makes it like running full heat all the time.

The previous message seemed to suggest a distinction between a climate control system, and an “automatic” climate control system. I was guessing maybe I didnt have the automatic one…which would in effect be regular manual hvac.

edit: re-reading it, now I see you were probably making the distinction between a dual-two temp system and a 1 temp system. Not automatic climate control vs some sort of other less techy climate control lol.
My highlander is dual…but in no way functions as if it were automatic…judging from the constant putzing I have to do.

Just being an old man yelling at clouds here…carry on :)

Blend door problem? If it has automatic climate control you should still be able to control it your self

I think you have to spend at least $75,000 now to get Toyota written out on anything because Toyota knows how much we like that

I can, but that’s my problem. I should’t have to if it’s automatic.

Honestly though, blend door problem might explain my problem…Hmmm. I still have till november for the bumper to bumper warranty. Might need to stop complaining and do something about that…

Toyota says that 4Runner TRD Pro & Limited has Dual zone automatic climate control. And these automatic climate controls have something to do with headunit software it seems. When I ask "CarCareNut" looks like its only these automatic climate controls have this vs others are manual, no software BS. For me I don't know if 4Runner automatic climate control has the temp sensor is in the wrong spot as I too have to keep changing the Temp setting based on out side temp colder days vs hot days. Same with fresh air / recycle air mode. Sometimes it switches to fresh air while in traffic getting all that bad smell inside the car. Wish I had manual no software BS climate control.

Yeah, that highlighted are is a bit concerning. That would suck if it’s tied into the head unit…. Must mean no possibility of an aftermarket radio ever.

Toyota doesnt seem to spend too much time sorting out the functional aspects of how software-dependent features actually work in real life.

    So, thread summary…

    1. Bro Pro posers are probably just shady dealers engaged in fraud.

    2. Toyota climate control seems to suck because they assumed the guy that wrote code for an HVAC system understood HVAC, or code for that matter (or even basic “if/then” logic)

    3. These software coders are the same ones that designed and implemented the whole Toyota connect system, and we can be totally sure our headunit-controlled, pushbutton start toyotas are hack-proof and
will protect our privacy. Wait, no, that’s not it…

Drop her on off! Shouldn’t hurt. Only vehicle I ever had with ‘automatic climate control’ is my 01 Tahoe, but to use it it had its dial setting labeled auto and has these aspirators in the headliner to detect cabin temperature I assume. Tried it once and I didn’t like it, or it didn’t work. Forget I have it unless it’s a day I hear the fan in the one above my head buzzzzzz.

I have the exact same thing except it says "Trail" on mine. I love them and I've never seen another with those, but I would never put "TRD" on mine as it's not truly a TRD.

I do like that my model’s variation of TRD Faux comes without badging at all. And while part of me is tempted to swap to the heritage grill as the Venture looks that way already.
Still I kinda dig the sombrero.

    It's true.

I remember when all the Tacoma bois were begging for the stamped metal "TACOMA" lettering on their tailgates prior to 2016.

As soon as they got it, they all started filling them with vinyl lettering inserts

I hear that the ones that didn't throw a piston rod through the block and start on fire were very reliable! :D

Ugh, you’re right. At this point, Toyota has probably been using the sombrero longer than they ever used TOYOTA across the front. You could argue it’s true heritage at this point.

That sombrero is sooo 90’s though….

Yes i was just comparing the dual zone climate on the limited and pro vs the single of the others. There are a few features the pro and the limited have that you can’t ever get in another trim otherwise I’d have got a ORP. I don’t have any plans on changing the FOX suspensions but if the pro and ORP had the exact same interior I’d probably have gotten an ORP and get better suspension down the road (although I’ve been really pleased with the FOX shocks so far). Also I was able to get the pro at MSRP (which would have been awful if it was any other year than 2022) and my dealer was trying to sell me a lightly used stock ORP for 2k less than a brand new pro so it was a no brainer.

If we are honest with ourselves, Toyota should have put dual climate and auto headlights in every premium trims (SR5P, ORP, etc…). Also I really wish I had the ventilated seats of the limited… my 2007 Lexus IS 350 has them. That’s right, a 15 year old car does but my 2022 4R does not lol

    I sense a double standard.

In the "tuner" "jdm car" or whatever the F you want to call it world, If you add house mods to your vehicle (Nismo parts to a 350/70Z; Frontier; TRD parts to an 86, Supra, etc) Nobody gives a flying crap.

In the truck world, people start to get all wet in the pants over an SR5 owner adding a TRD Pro Roof Rack or skid plate etc. Its stupid.
Not sure if my distinction over badging a model in the image of another is clear.

It seems like most of the people here don't care about people swapping grilles, skids, etc. It's the badge swapping that seems to be frowned upon.

In your own example;if someone puts Nismo parts on a regular Z, it's fine. But, putting a Nismo badge on a regular Z is probably looked down on.

Personally, I am glad I didn't "upgrade" to any of the PRO parts. My 4Runner is probably more unique for having kept it stock.

There's nothing functional on the PRO that's worth swapping to another trim. But, if someone likes the grille, wheels, etc, that's fine with me.

I saw a mustang with aftermarket badging where the 5.0 goes if it's a GT. This one was a 6 cyl because instead of 5.0, it had like 2.8 or something funny. And I don't think the owner was being funny.

I have worked hard to build my 2016 Trail Premium as a nice Toyota rig without having TRD or Pro accessories or bits slathered on it. Someone actually commented some time ago saying he rarely see's done up 4runners that have the front emblem still vs the heritage grill. To that point there is a specific gear shift lever that I like but haven't bought it yet because it has TRD on it... lol
