I designed a no-drill solution that will hold a large phone on Baja roads. It's based on a custom shaped clamp that grabs just below the air vent. You can get the best of both worlds: a solid feel of an integrated solution and you don't have to drill your 4Runner. The clamp is lined with a molded elastomer - so it won't mark the dash if you want to take it off.

I've got 2 clamp designs - one fore 2010-2013 (without NAV) and 2014-2019.

    I'm curious about your feedback.

This has worked well for me. Yes, it jiggles, but it's easy to use and puts the phone in a good place. Plus just $15. Note that I have mine mounted in the rubbery cupholder insert. I haven't tried it without the insert -- might actually jiggle less without it.

Looks like a clever and high quality design. I'd like to try it if it didn't block the screen on my 2020 (and would in fact not mark up/dent the place where it's mounted). It seems it would be much more stable and secure than the other mounts I've seen that place the phone that high up. I can't imagine relying on a vent mount, especially not with my big and heavy iPhone Max.

    Thanks for the feedback.
The clamp is lined with a molded liner on both top and bottom - so the dash is safe from marks. I dial in the compression on the liners such that the clamp bottoms out before the liners do… while giving ample clamping force.

I’ve got an idea on how to do this on 2020+ and will make one to test and report back. Will make sure it clears the screen.

    any other wish list items?

    These look great!
I would be interested in a pair if the 2020 version becomes available.
I use the Hondo Garage ones on my '17 Taco, and it's excellent.
My 2020 T4R has 2 of the Proclips. They are ok, but I have had them bounce off twice, and the phone clip is crude compared to the Hondo, and especially when the Proclip is modded with a Ram ball extension, it shakes way too much. Our roads on the backside of Maui are similar to Baja.

I second the Hondo garage one that was on my 2017 taco. I’d buy something like that for my 2022 4Runner.

Apparently you are the designer of this product?
I contacted Offroam and they replied that they are working on one for '22 ORP. I'm on their waiting list. I can't wait as this appears to be the best option for my needs/ preference. Estimated release date?
    Thanks

I can attest to the quality and fit of this phone mount. Very solid, and adjustable, without blocking any vents. Thanks for designing this!

I can’t wait to get this mount for my 2021 4R. I got two of these on my 2020 Tundra and they work great!

When I ordered these for my Tundra in Aug 2021 you were able to select a 25mm ball for the mount. After checking out the updated website I don’t see this option anymore, just the 20mm ball option.

Will you be giving us the option to order this mount with the 25mm ball?

As you probably know the 25mm ball makes your mount compatible with all B size RAM mount components. Giving endless attachment options for a variety of different accessories.

    Cheers

Has anyone been able to purchase a Labops dash mount? I have been waiting until Oct when they expect to ship, but emailed them for an update...crickets..just curious if I should wait it out, or just go with Rago. Looking for something to mount a couple of items but not in or around vents.

@4 Sticks on here did a BEAUTIFUL mount. They did the Driver grab handle mod, then added a mount off the bottom and a USB in the blank spot on the left side of the steering wheel.... looks like they might not be on the forum anymore (Edit... looks like 4 Sticks is still on, just didn't find him when I tagged). I saved the screen shot to copy because it was so clean.

I wanted to protect myself from looking at or using my phone in the car and stick to the carplay experience. I was able to make this docking station fit right into the cupholder next to the USB port with some slight shaving of the plastic corners of the dock. The phone on the dock fits perfect inside the cupholder and doesn't budge.
